So as to prove your efforts in your search to the RAV officer assigned to your case, keep a log of and copies of relevant documentation for EVERY attempt you have made and continue to make to try to find employment, not only pure job applications, but also networking, collecting references, reworking your cv, updating your knowledge, improving your language skills, searching online, etc.
It's still not too late. ALK is an insurance. It's like any other insurance policy and you can now make your claim. You have paid it for the last 4 years. So you are still eligible. But like others have said, for financial reasons, it's best to act ASAP.
It's not going to take 3 months to get unemployment benefits. Just register asap, and you'll be fine. Then you get both money and a way to extend your permit. And find a job asap so you don't depend on RAV for your permit for too long.
