I was just wondering whether anyone has any tips on buying a used car from AMAG? Did you have much luck in negotiating the price?
I got about 15% off a used car, they had told me there is no discounts but looks like they wanted the sale.
This was pre covid so may not be relevant in todays market.
Problem with buying a used car from a dealer is the VAT has to be paid double.
I went on a Friday afternoon and was there for a few hours for the test drive and inspection etc. Eventually got the salesman to agree to throw in some winter wheels and respray the front bumper, back bumper and door that had a few cosmetic scratches. Couldn't get more out of them than that.
Don't forget to insist they provide the vignette!
Cheers!
If you have another car in exchange, that could potentially help.
Last year I switched my 2010 S4 for 2018 A6 in AMAG Winterthur and got new winter and summer tires as well they repainted back bumper due to a small damage.
Because the S4 was in a very good condition as for its age, we made a deal by increasing the resale value of my S4 than initially proposed, and keeping a very limited discount on the A6.
He told me he has only very limited discount options (if any) for selling a car but has much more leeway in buying back the car you give in exchange.
All in all I was quite happy with the deal, although I am aware that the price I got for my S4 was still lower than potential market price if I sold it to a private person.
