40 Years ago. Seems like just yesterday.
What floored me the other day was 20 years since 7/7
What floored me was that Woodstock was 56 years ago. Gad. I was too young to go, but I saw many of the acts later in SF.
I remember it as it was yesterday…not because of the 7/7, but because I was working for a big American company (EU HQ based in Brussels), my officemate and myself had just been announced that the police would be seizing our offices files (a case of industrial espionage) and computers, and as the judicial police entered our office, our boss (american) called us and told us to check the videos on the computer and ‘stand still’ on any communication to ‘mother ship’ (that’s how we called the global HQ in US)…
We stood still, watched the videos (together with the police) in total disbelief. what a day!
I watched the moonlanding together with my granny on this day 56 years ago.
And now I am going to lay down and take a nap.
56 years ago I was in love with Sandy. She never knew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkOB57UcYk8&list=RDOkOB57UcYk8&start_radio=1
Thanks for the reminder, Slammer!
On that day, my family was vacationing on the Lake Michigan shore.
The lake houses were all rustic, no one had a TV - so one of the neighbors drove all the way to Chicago and back to fetch his. After fiddling with the rabbit ears for what seemed like an eternity we (probably a dozen families, kids and parents) gathered round the tiny TV, in absolute awe. I still get goosebumps thinking about that day.
Later we kids built cardboard box lunar modules and for the rest of the holiday played at making our own ‘giant step for mankind’ on the dunes.
56 years… doG I’m old.
Isn’t it strange that events can hardwire themselfs into our brains in the finest details.
Juat remembered, it was presented by Patrick Moore.
And I always thought it was Judy
Jaws apparently is 50 years old now. I managed not to ever see it and I plan to die illiterate in that respect.
Why did Phil_MC’s children just cross my mind, I wonder?
Forget sharks…they can graduate directly to Inuit muktuk (raw whale blubber)!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water…!
What is?
Oh sorry the link broke.
Tom and Jerry, in the original form from 1940 to 1967
you mean that was already old when I started watching it?
Definitely didn’t stop me.
