An anti-complaint, and a big thumbs-up for DJ Discount on Limmatstrasse

As a follow on from this thread I can now safely say that some of my faith in Swiss retail is restored.

After a fruitless 3 hour search which took me all over Zürich searching all the usual places for a specific item. As I was thinking about what other specialty shops would possibly have what I'm looking for I looked out of the window of the tram and spotted a DJ shop. I jumped off at the next stop and on the off chance went in. Seems obvious to me now, but when looking for high end Hi-Fi headphones DJ outlets hadn't previously sprung to mind

Not only did they have exactly what I was looking for, but more importantly the staff there were really friendly and helpful, plus they answered all my questions regarding other stuff even though I was only buying the headphones.

Having had a good look around there there's some other things that I will probably want in the near future, and I'll be going back there.

The upside is that I'm now hearing Beethovens 9th like I've never heard it before. The downside is that I'm now going to need to re-rip my entire CD collection again as lossless.

Just use Spotify.

Just listened to the 9th via

Just wanted to say that if you are to replace your CD-collection, do not throw the "old" stuff away but donate it to a Pestalozzi Bibliothek

I have sadly found that Spotify (even the premium higher bitrate service) is nowhere near as good in terms of sound quality as a proper lossless CD rip or just listening to a good old fashioned CD player.

Which is a shame because I really want to do all my listening with it. I'm just too much of a fussy so and so.
