An old question: after-interview thank-you email or not?

In my home country a thank-you note after interview is widely practiced. But in Switzerland I get different opinions.

I asked my spouse (local Swiss). He says that he never did this and never heard someone else do this. He thinks that such a note will seem too "pushy" and superfluous to the employer.

On the other hand, I once applied in a Swiss company. They explicitely ask you to send a feedback email after every interview to specify whether you are still interested.

This practice seems weird to me anyway. The employers are the ones who are taking you on an interview. Why should you send a feedback? They are supposed to send a feedback to you to let you know whether they want to hire you or not.

The practice here seems to be a bit outdated.

Instead of a 'Thank You' E-Mail, I would send a summary

of the Points of the interview that interested you and what

the prospective employer is looking for.

It is a good Chance to look at the Job description and once

more match your qualifications with the needs of the Company.

At the end, express interest once more for the Job and the Company.

If you're going through an agency it's vital, especially if you're a contractor. Agencies can play silly games.

As a hiring manager, I was always happy to receive thank-you emails.

I, personally, normally wait for my ' thank you for attending ' email from the interviewer.
