Android 2.1 phone for CHF 100.- on PAYG

Whats the camera quality like just out of interest?

Haven't really tried it yet - from what I had read though, it's crappy enough.. no flash, so will only take half decent pictures in daylight, and only 3.2 MP. fine for me as it's something I don't intend to use that much anyway.

Its in this zip file http://www.okmobile.ch/docs/reg_agb.zip

Pleased to say I managed to get one. In the end I felt sorry for the poor woman who turned me away on Saturday - they launched these things last week without proper support - she was stuck on her own trying to deal with lottery addicts, newspaper buyers, chewing gum chewers and folk like me trying to sign a phone contract! Could have done with some extra support for launch week methinks. Anyway the phone seems good enough - and an absolute bargain for 100 francs.

As far as the camera goes - do not buy it for the camera - a CHF100 camera is not great and this does a whole lot more besides. But as a phone with some apps to play with it is great value.

I am on record as being a smartpohone/ tablet hater, but CHF 100 + CHF 10 for the SIM card looks like very good value. Going travelling soon for 4 weeks and I don't want to lug a laptop with me just to check my e-mail and bank account.

All the kiosks around ZH HB were still sold out yesterday evening.

One woman said "maybe Friday".

I didn't check the avec shop there.

Has anyone had any luck in Oerlikon?

I picked up the last one at the kiosk at Zentrum, Regensdorf this morning.

A bargain for an android phone.

The phone is Orange branded and sim-locked.

I've tried unlocking it but the instructions don't work for me. Particularly, when starting with a different SIM, the phone doesn't ask for an unlock code. It just says: no sim found.

Update: the unlock does work. Remember to remove & replace the battery as well as the sim card

I have been agonising over what android phone to buy for months- this resolved the issue quite easily.

I picked up one today and will be unlocking it soon.

agreed. this resolves the desire HD vs desire Z debate nicely

For anyone who has one of these phones - have you been able to upgrade to Android 2.2?

Phone unlocked without any hassle whatsoever. Thanks Castro.

The poor woman who was at the kiosk when I bought it was stressing as she could not get the fax machine to work and customers kept on coming and going as she was struggling with it. Eventually she gave the formula back to me and begged my forgiveness for the sim card activation would take longer... but that's really irrelevant now! I don't even know if i'll make use of the 15 chfs credit.

Next to do (maybe): root and install Android 2.2

can't find a kiosk with these in stock

When you've figured that out, can you post instructions, please.

okmobile's website allows you to see which kiosk's still have stock. That's how I tracked down mine.

some bugger just bought the last one nearest to me

That's right. I will try Bahnhof Enge on the way home tonight.

If i can do it, i'll post it but i've never tried it before, i'll have to do some research first.

Cool. I'd just like someone else to go first

They still have them in zentrum glatt.

Just got mine...

Wonder if they'll still have them on Thursday...

Whats the link for that? I looked on their website but couldnt find out how

Yeah, many indications that the ok.- mobile management is quite amateurish...
