Hello
Hope you are all well!
unfortunately our dog became really ill and had to be hospitalised for 2 weeks. We are insured with Animalia and we've sent the claim to them and they've refunded us excluding hospitalisation and food costs which is fine as it is stated in the policy that they are not included in the plan. (we have animalia comfort)
today they sent us an email saying that they made mistake and they also need to exclude tube feeding costs and we need to repay them.
in the policy it says:
8. Diätmassnahmen Diätbehandlungen sowie spezifische Nahrung, die auf diesen Zweck
ausgerichtet ist.
we understood that food is excluded and not the cost of nurse/machine feeding her. Vet has separated food and feeding cost on the invoice.
any thoughts please?? anyone else have a similar experience?
thank you!
Paging meloncollie for advice...
Unfortunately, seems par for the course with Animalia. I've had a fairly harrowing experience with them in the past, though that was 3 years ago, so perhaps things have improved.
They took every opportunity to reduce their costs, and though I disputed the most egregious changes, I couldn't manage it.
The sheer stress of dealing with Animalia while taking care of a dying pet was tough, to say the least. Didn't help that every employee I interacted treated me with coldness and disdain.
Ultimately once my cat had passed (cancer, for which Animalia covered only the first three months of treatment), I decided to switch to Epona for the surviving kitty. So far so good.
I hope you fare better than I did. And that your dog recovers quickly.
We also dropped Animalia - otherwise known as 'vererbten Krankheit'. Everything is an inherited disease it seems, dog or cat.
I am not familiar with Animalia but I would certainly ask why the feeding tube is not covered.
Depending on the age of your dog you may want to consider switching insurance. We are with Epona and are quite happy with the coverage.
I hope your dog has made a full recovery.
Thank you very much for all of your reply.
We will look into Epona. Thank u!
This is odd, because when I was looking for pet insurance Animalia got good reviews and Epona got absolutely terrible reviews.
Problem with switching is you don’t get cover for existing conditions.
We’ve never had a problem with Animalia, they’re reimbursed everything promptly.
I went to look at the website of Animalia (because we signed up a few months ago also and this got me worried) and it clearly says hospital costs are covered so am confused....
