Another day another war

Ukraine and Russia continue to duke it out to the point of exhaustion, Israel has just had a fire fight with Egypt… wonder where that is going!
And new on the table are reports of China Requisitioning ferries and freighters for a possible invasion of Taiwan.
What is wrong with the monkeys on this rock, is it so hard to get along?

Too many monkeys on the rock…

I mean don’t forget that Myanmar is at war since 70+ years… Mali keeps fighting with AQIM, and Sudan has it’s own issues…

In West Africa, we’re also seeing more and more influence from Russian troops; and in East Africa China has built it’s first army base abroad…

let’s not forget the situation in New Caledonia too…

it’s like, two eary fo “piece” during covid time, made everyone go additionally crazy

Not sure that is the problem. We bashed our noggins in when our species counted in the thousands and not in the billions. Just one bunch of monkeys in one tree wanting what the monkeys in the next tree over had, everything else is cosmetics.

Looks like the Houthis staged an attack on a US carrier, unclear at the moment if they had any success, but the will was there.

The ferries thing isn’t new. There have been numbers drill around this over the years.

Though, the drills have become bigger.

My guess is we haven’t seen the last of the drills before they flip the switch.

What a time to be alive!

I read a report on a maritime website a few years ago that Ships built in China for use in Chinese waters had added hard points.
The cruiseliner I worked on started life as the Kungsholm before becoming the MS Europa, this ship had hard points on the Forcastle, two amidships and one aft. The idea being that it could be quickly converted to an armed troop carrier should it be needed.
I suspect the same applies here.

For the external pessimist, I got a pop-up advert offering this lovely bedside lamp:
