Anti-bacterial spray?

Hi all

With the current concerns about swine flu does anyone know where I can get general anti-bacterial household spray and hand wash? In the UK most cleaning sprays come in an anit-bacterial variant and anti-bac soap can be bought readily in supermarkets, but I havent seen anything here.

Ideas?

You DO realize that anti-BACTERIAL ....ANYTHING...doesn't work on a VIRUS.....right?

Soap and water...and a proper handwashing technique.

And gel-alcohol handwashing liquid is also appropriate after you have washed with soap and water and dried off with a paper towel...

We tested 'anti-bac' products in a microbiology lab, and the actual washing with soap, water and rubbing was more important than the specific ingredients used...

well my apologies to everyone for my ignorance.

will stick to soap and water in the absence of other products.

Ignore that lot

Try Sanytol disinfectant

It's available in the drogorie in the basement of Jemoli.

It comes in a spray for surfaces and a concentrate for diluting with water for general cleaning.

It's an anti-bacterial and an anti-viral.

A lot of french supermarkets sell nice big litre bottles of rubbing alcohol (90% ethanol). Dilute it down a little to about 70% and then pour into an empty spray bottle. Quick, clean and odourless when dry.

There are good scientifically proven reasons why to no use anti-bacterial products around the home...

And the chemicals are pretty toxic to humans (and pets) too...

Save your money...there is a multi-billion dollar industry out there convincing you to buy these products...costs about $2 to make a bottle of something that you pay $10-20 for, and of that $2 cost, the biggest expense is the fancy bottle that they put it into...

The medical centre in Baden recommends Ecolab Skinman Soft F as a disinfectant for hands. It is to be used on dry hands.

I understand that the same French supermarkets sell a more effective alcohol at 40%, which enables one to forget all about bacteria and viruses altogether.

I'd agree with that. Ours only get used occasionally to clean baby stuff that can't be washed.

Plus the whole hygenie hypothesis which postulates that the reason children have so many allergies is because they live in such a sterile environment and don't get exposed to filth as much as they should.
