Antiperspirant - does it exist?

A tip may be to check the list of ingredients on all those "deos" you see. You will then most likely see that they all have Aluminum chloride? as their main ingredient, i.e. Anti-perspirant is called Deo in CH :-)

I have lived in German speaking countries for most of my life and I understand the issue with them only having DEOs and not Anti Perspirants.

Trust me it used to be a lot worse, things have got better steadily.

Nonetheless, I always fall back to the tried and tested method:

I IMPORT "SURE" FROM THE UK COS ITS THE BUSINESS

Yeah I import SURE form the US

I could be mistaken but I think Rexona is the European brand name for SURE...

You can save yourself a fortune in postage now.

There you go... I was right: http://www.semiotic.co.uk/rexona.html

It is, but whether the contents are the same, its difficult to tell with out a bottle of each. I have never noticed the difference, but then working for a swiss company, one is hardly likely to break into a sweat, unless SBB suffer a power outage.

Oh, I dunno - I got a bit hot under the collar having forgotten to chink glasses with the rest of the dinner guests before quoffing half a glass of wine. Is it warm in here, or is it me..?

Yeah but they do not have the same products. The one I get in the states (no postage just luggage) is quite different from what I have found here (tried Rexona too).

Wrong... they are not the same product.

And I bring them with me in my Luggage so postage is not an option.

And SURE IS THE NUTS!!!

Shouldn't this post be about a flat available in Niederdorf?

Krikey - thanks - I thought we were discussing the ill effects of ganja

Swiss people just don't sweat ... seriously.

I've been many times in overheated restaurants/clubs and the locals are just knocking around in huge woollen jumpers with apparently no sign of distress.

I also remember once walking up the Uetliberg in the middle of summer. Even though I was reasonably fit at the time I was certainly 'glowing' by the time I got near the top ... meanwhile loads of Swiss walkers and cyclists were whizzing past me with hardly a bead of sweat.

I think the tendency here is to be fit; lots of people go for stiff hikes up the lovely mountains and whatnot and, like you say, you don't see a bead of sweat. I'm usually left way behind sweating like a pig and coughing up a lung.

It's the same with skiing; I'm there at minus 15C with an unzipped ski jacket, no hat and with red cheeks trying to keep up with hubby and the next hopefuls for the Swiss national team. They are there wrapped up, skiing even faster to stave off hypothermia while they politely wait at the bottom for the wheezing hippo-on-skis at the back.

interesting comments.

i also import Sure from the UK -well carry it back with me. from pure observation Sure works. you dont sweat so much and it doesn't whiff after a day commuting and in the office. that Denim stuff smells ok in the morning but after work - no thanks. i'm still intrigued why the formulations are different. perhaps i'll drop a line to Unilever for fun.i might get some free samples!

thanks to all

There’s a product called EtiaXil which you can find in most pharmacies, it’s actually a treatment for excessive sweating, but if you use it just once, as against every day, as they state in the instructions, you’ll be dry for days, it really does work! No need to worry about those ugly rings on clothes, no matter how hot you get. Do make sure to read the instructions though, especially the part about shaving prior to use- as it has a high alcohol content and would sting the bejezus out a ye....

I hope this helps.

Best,

Reb

I am very picky and I found a product at migros that is better than my one from the states. It is a roll on and in a grey package. it is called Explonic men 24h+ Anti-transpirant micro minerals dry formula. This is one of the best I have ever used and my partner uses it as well. Hope this helps.
