We were due to see Amy Winehouse and Jack Johnson at Moon and Stars but now only Jack and to cover the disappointment,though not 100% unexpected, of Amy not coming, we would like to blow the ticket money on a really nice meal in Ascona.
I've looked at Tripadvisor but thought better to check in with EF members who normally have a better inside track on such things.

Was just there this past weekend to see Santana. We went to Ascona for a day and found a restaurant for lunch with great food (hard to do in CH). But I can't remember the whole name. It was something Grotto. It was right off the main drag next to the water with all the restaurants. Kinda hidden up the street but there was a sign for it on the main drag. It is family owned and the food is family style. There is only one menu served, and the owner is a grumpy guy only speaking Italian. But man the food! You get 2 types of sausage to begin with, a salad, bread, main course was like a beef stew with polenta and finish with cheese and an apricot tart. Man, the food was really good and homemade right there. Best of all, for 2 of us and 2 pitcher of wine it was only 56 franc!
We will definitely try there on one of the days there.
