I know things are expensive here in Switzerland but wow... Or is this what it costs? I'm a single guy >120,000 (that's not a brag, just that I have to file a return). I have a few bank accounts and retirement in the US, and a brokerage account.
So do it yourself, what's the problem? Unlike US, swiss taxes are designed to be doable by mere mortals and they provide you all the software needed for free. The bulk of the work - collecting all documents you have to do yourself anyway, you're paying a tax consultant mostly to copy-paste the numbers into software and some know-how of where you could deduct some extra things here and there
Even for US I think TurboTax that everyone uses is nowhere near a $1k price tag
Right, 120k is borderline poverty, so nothing to be ashamed of
I used Tarantino Treuhand for my tax return this year, as I own real estate in an EU country (NL), I wanted to make sure everything was done correctly. Their fee was lower than initially discussed and I am very pleased with their service - would definitely consider going back next year!
So BDO are a little cheaper than the big 4. From what I understand (I’ve always done my own taxes) a small firm will do your Swiss taxes for a couple of 100.
Any idea where can I find a smaller firm please ?

Following up on these older posts on tax consultants....
I need a new tax consultant (Zurich City) for a slightly complex tax set-up.
Had one that was pretty cheap but has disappeared to Nirwana. I paid around 350 chf for having my plain vanilla individual tax done and my husband paid about 700 chf for his slightly more complex one (which was ok-ish, getting the tax filing pain moved from my shoulders)
We now move from individual tax to married and have real estate + financial assets in various European countries (sounds big, but we are not millionaires!) and working in 2 different countries (France and CH). I am already over challenged claiming back my tax at source on dividends in CH
I found a recommendation for „CDC Dietrich“ and „taxolution“, but not very recent posts on these, any other recommendations?
