Anybody used Cheaptickets.ch

Hi,

I found a travel deal (by air) from skyscanner.com and when i select the deal, it routes me to the site cheaptickets.ch. while the name looks sensible, i would like to know if anybody here in EF has used this website to book their tickets and their experience. How reliable is this site? the cost of the tickets being booked is around 2500 CHF for the whole family. so i want to be sure that the website is genuine. I tried to check the location of their office but it is not listed but they only give a phone number starting with 0900 (calls to the number are charged) and an email address. This makes it a littile bit doubtful for me.

So any advices here will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

HappyCreature

I've used them several times they're completely legit! Have fun traveling...

+1 here.. tend to give really good deals . Warning they tend to have a minor additional fees at the last page for card payment fees.

I use them all the time. They are normally the best price in Skyscanner and their credit card fees aren't outrageous either.

+2, use them quite often, even had to cancel a couple of time, never hand any problems.

Not sure if they offer the cheapest prices (now) but they used to be.

My house guest used them. He made it here and back without any problems flying Swiss. I think he paid about $200 less than I did booking directly through the Swiss website.

Be careful when you get to the end of the booking. The added fees can sometimes be substantial and vary widely between these cheap ticket places. Sometimes, another choice has a slightly higher flight price but the total payable is much lower. They all seem to be lower than the Swiss airline website though.

I found lastminute.de to be good for the total cost, including fees, for flights from Switzerland but doesn't mean it will be the best in all cases.

is Tripsta better or worse or about the same?

+1 for CheapTickets.ch

I've used them several times and never had any major problems.

In order avoid credit card fees, I recommend using the Sofort payment method (which is available on CheapTickets).

CheapTickets has websites in different countries and can be trusted.

I normally start my search for tickets at momondo.com, but often find the ticket including all admin fees and payment fees end up to be the same when buying directly with the flight company. I'd rather then buy there.

+1 ...but did buy via cheaptickets.ch on a couple of occasions without a problem, it's the fees for paying that bother me at the end, but I guess it's their business model

I have recently booked a flight with cheaptickets.ch and everything looked fine until I got an e-mail from them that my direct flight got canceled and they were offering me an alternative means of transportation through connecting flights. I replied to their mail asking if they could reimburse my purchase since I did not accept the alternative means of transportation offered.

According to EU (and Swiss) air traveler's rights ( http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens...r/index_en.htm , http://www.bazl.admin.ch/dienstleist...hte/?lang=en)::)

"

If you are denied boarding or your flight is cancelled or overbooked , you are entitled to either: transport to your final destination using comparable alternative means , or having your ticket refunded and, where relevant, being returned free of charge to your initial departure point. "

cheaptickets.ch never replied to my request (it's been almost 3 weeks), which I forwarded both to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) , although I have received a confirmation mail that they have received my request and are processing it.

The only other way I found contacting them is through a charged call (0900-556045, 0.67 CHF/Min), which I refuse to do.

I understand that they are not to blame for the flight cancellation, and I even understand that I might even have to accept the alternative means of transportation provided (I'm waiting on a reply from the EU on that). I do blame them, however, for their non-existent customer support.

You can try calling them in Holland (+31-23-5176365). It's a bit cheaper than their 0900 number and they are very helpful.

I had to reschedule a flight and did not receive a response to my three e-mails. Also, while cancellations are done per e-mail - any scheduling changes need to be done by phone (as I was informed by them).

I think you're going to have to suck it up and just call.

Thank you for the information! I just called them, they were indeed more helpful over the phone, and have agreed to place a refund request with the airline.

Worth knowing is that under the Swiss code of obligations laws, if goods or services are not delivered after 6 months, you can demand your money back from your Swiss credit card company.

A Swiss friend of mine living in southern Ireland bought two Belfast concert tickets from a dodgy website using a Swiss credit card ( www.tickets.com ) and after 6 months of no tickets, he got a complete refund.

Sadly, Cheaptickets is not a company that should be trusted. I used them several times over the years and everything was OK because my flights were OK.

The problems started when I had to cancel a flight. First, their customer reps gave me erroneous information about the price of cancelling a flight - it cost me 100 CHF more than initially promised.

But OK, that was still acceptable since the ticket price was 1200 CHF and I was supposed to get 950 CHF back. After cancelling, I got an email confirmation from them that 950 would be reimbursed.

Unfortunately what happened after that is just thievery. They transferred 500 EUR instead of 950 CHF for reasons that I do not understand. After drawing their attention to this 6 or 7 times, I got constantly changing replies ranging from "the rest is on its way", "you have to wait a bit longer" to "please provide proof that you did not get the money".

I even sent them proof that the money transferred was insufficient, but despite repeated attempts to follow up and ask for clarification, Cheaptickets has refused to transfer the full amount.

I definitely do not recommend booking with them. It is unfortunately a fundamentally dishonest organization. I have brought legal action against them.

I used them many times. THey are legit, but exactly what you'd expect - cheapest tickets available. Company is not actually Swiss but (probably?) Dutch and their phone support simply does not work at all. So it's a bargain as long as it works, but don't expect anyone answering questions or being helpful when you need to change or cancel something.

It took me a week to harass them on their social media channels to finally get an email answer. Never managed to talk to anybody.

Yeah. Under Swiss laws are merchants also not allowed to charge a surcharge for credit card payments. Swiss airlines does and does not give a about the law. If you challenge the payment, will you probably get your 10 CHF back. And blocked from any future online booking...

I'd totally pull that trick with some dodgy ticket website. But I would not do so with any airline I plan to use in the future...

I do not recommend cheaptickets.

I asked for rescheduling, they offered 80CHF per flight which was basically higher than the total price initially paid (including transfers). I asked to cancel the ticket, they offered 1.98 CHF as a refund (wtf?).

Plus, I couldn't reach them over the phone for days. The girl over the phone didn't speak proper English, so I paid ++0.86CHF/min because she had to repeat everything couple of times.

Yolu should learn to read the terms and conditions, before buying !

All these cheap tix are the same, no changes no refunds, this is why they are cheap. You want refunds, re-scheduling....go pay full price !

The small refund that was offered, is what is left from the various taxes charged on the ticket after the "administration costs" have been deducted. The reason the sum sound so silly is that it's all done by a computer......
