Did you make it to the slopes, downhill, XC, touring or snowboarding? How was it?
Most resorts opened this week-end, even all the lower altitude ones in the Jura mountains. Didn't make it myself, as OH has stinking cold- so spent it playing in the garden with snow up to my middle - a Winter wonderland.
Went to La Dole last week - was magical, if not a bit wet and the Swiss side was closed - but found a couple of off piste corridors between the trees that were gorgeous. Went to La Clusaz today, was powder + sun + no crowds - one of the best ski day I had in recent memory.
Going to try Flaine next weekend and then will go back to London for the holidays assuming they don't block entry to non-vaxxed. If they do I'll be skiing some more over Christmas.
Good luck with the 10 day isolation- I'd stay and ski!

We went sledding somewhere more high up than St. Georges. It was nice enough.
We spent the day in the Portes Du Soleil. It definitely lived up to it's name with plenty of sunshine.
I treated myself to a new pair of skis this season and wanted to test them out. We had great fun in the fresh powder and on piste. The kids quickly rediscovered their ski legs and left me playing catch up.... What happened to those days when they would follow me? now I follow them.... At least it is still a family pleasure for now.... I do wonder how many more years before they are too embarrassed to ski with me...
We are in Chene-Bougeries so for us Metabief is a bit of a way unfortunately. I went to La Dole as not too far and that's where I taught my oldest daughter how to ski last season so decided to see what the grown up slopes had to offer! All of last season I mainly spent in portes du Soleil. Excited to go to all the stations next to us on the French side this season!
I skied mainly l'Aiguille and the Col de Balme today - we didn't attempt to connect with Manigod, but I think the connection were not working if I am not mistaken due to the heavy snow
10 day of isolation, with PCR day 2 and day 7 take home. Last time they came to check on me on day 4 after I had already left on day 3 It's a bit of a joke this whole thing, but we will be there probably just for a week so I don't mind sitting at home As long as Boris doesn't shut the border...
FRench fishermen intend to block the Tunnel on 23rd! We are crossing on the 18th - fingers crossed.

Where in the Portes du Soleil- where is your intial access point? It is such a huge area and can be accessed from so many different angles.
Went to La Dole today. It was beautiful, swiss and French part were open, great weather and snow.
Next weekend going to Zermatt.
Best views of the Alps are always from the Jura, for sure
Never skied in La Dole myself. If we go that far, instead of our local Métabief, Les Rasses, La Robella and Les Bugnenets- we prefer to drive to Villars, Leysin or Torgon/ Plan de Croix for the fastest access to Portes du Soleil (Chapelle d'Abondance, Châtel and Super Châtel and Morgins)
Went in Stoos yesterday beautiful weather excellent conditions. Hopefully a good season ahead.
I'm a slacker last ski days from last season my skis really needed some maintenance, sharpening or whatever is called and I haven't yet brought them to the shop....things to do this week
Had to drive via La Vallée de la Brévine today- sunshine and beautiful groomed XC slopes- I love to watch the ski skaters gliding along.
BTW, there is a really good XC ski shop in La Brévine, * with both styles of XC skis available for rent, with shoes and sticks. And a couple of decent restaurants in the village and along the way if going West by the Lake.
Lake is frozen, but not safe to skate yet-
* shop is called La Siberia. They can organise lessons for beginners or those who want to switch to skating style (btw, you need to rent/buy different skis depending on skating or 'traditional'.

We like to set out from Morgins. Portes Du Soleil is great. It is easy to ski all day and not do a single piste twice. I also like the long final run back from Mossett at the end of the day. The liaisons were closed at the weekend, so we stuck to Morgins, but there are so many routes down there is plenty of variety.
Great to hear that skiing has become an extended family activity for you. I hope we can keep making memories like that too.
One tip, if ever you want to try it- as it makes access so much quicker- is to get out of MWay and go up to Vionnaz and Torgon. You can ski up Torgon and down to Plan de Croix- where there is a restaurant and you then have a choice- either T-bar to the right, down then up another T-bar to France, a nice restaurant at the top, and up and down Chapelle d'Abondance- or the fast chair on the left, up to Tour de Don and then up a few Pomas and down to the Poma at Châlet Neuf (a restaurant half way) then on to Châtel and Super Châtel or the other side to Morgins. Or you can turn right to Plan de Croix before you reach Torgon- big car-park there, by the restaurant, and you can get lift ticket from there. Ski School too.
From Lausanne, 1h00 to Morgins, 40 minutes to Torgon.

Nice and sunny and warm here. St moritz was good earlier in the week.
After tomorrow “higher up” will mean over about 2,400m unfortunately. Maybe a little better in deepest Graubünden.
