I'm thinking of starting horse riding lessons again.. I'm still at beginner level, ie. I was able to trot the last time I rode 4 years ago! I'm now looking for riding lessons close to Zurich and have contacted a few schools regarding their classes. Some have teachers who speak English, so I was wondering if anyone was interested in joining me for lessons? (I could join their normal group lessons but they are mainly in Swiss German...)
If we are able to gather 5 riders, we could benefit from their group rates (usually about 45CHF per 1 hour lesson per person). If not, private lessons are 110CHF for one person, or 75CHF each for 2 persons (also 1 hour). If we find a third person, we could bring this price down further.
hi i definetly would but i dont own a horse over here (ived moved over here from Aus to do AU pair for the year)
If anyone is reading this that has horses but doesnt have the time to exercise them PM, id be very interested in doing it for a few francs per hour. very experienced rider- have ridden for over 15 years. i own a 16.2 naughty tb gelding back home in AUs so i would most likey be more then capable to control your horses. cheers deb
Ctan, did you ever find anyone to join you? I would be very interested ...
I notices you said that you contacted "several" schools in Zurich. I only know of the one on Bachtobelstrasse. Do you mind giving me the contact info of others?
I am eager to find somewhere to ride too in Zurich area or west side of Zurich lake (Richterswil/Horgen/Thalwil). I used to have a horse and can already ride so ideally I'm looking for someone in need of help with exercising their horse but if that's not possible, I would consider taking lessons and seeing where that gets me!
Have you been to the Kolbenhof stables? Was it any good and is it easy to get to by public transport?
Does anyone know of any stables where they are looking for people to help exercise horses? I only work part-time so I have spare time during the week to help out.
you are best of looking under www.reitkalender.ch or www.gratis-inserate.ch for a so called Reitbeteiligung or Pflegepferd. There are many people who are looking for reliable persons to exercise their horse on a regular basis. I have a person too to help me and am very glad to get that additional day off from the stables (of course I love my horse dearly but it is a verrrrryyy time consuming hobby)
I have been lookin for a riding stables nearby where I can hack up in the hills it seems a great place to do it but can't find anywhere . I live in thalwil .
I have just read your post on horse riding two years on and wondered if you were in Zurich still and had any lessons . I am too looking for lessons and have another friend which might as well . Thank you vicki
I did attend some group classes at Reitschule Waldhof which is not too difficult to get to by public transport (catch a bus from the Zurich airport). The teacher basically integrated me into the existing groups. I went on Saturday mornings, had classes with around 3-4 other teenage girls who were about the same level. 6 was the maximum number of students. Lots of trotting exercises and directional switches which was suitable for me, although when I had private classes in Malaysia the teacher did cantering with me each class.
Class was in Swiss German, but the teacher would throw English in here and there so that I would understand the instructions. Overall I thought it was a good price for 1 hour worth of exercise (it was around 40CHF or less if bought as an abonnement). But I wasn't really progressing much as a rider, so I have stopped going. Partly my fault because I wasn't going consistently, and so my muscles never had a chance to build... I've decided to change sports now to mountain biking as this is something I can do every day or every weekend, without paying each time!!!
But do give this place a try. I heard from another friend about one in Buchs, also 45 mins from Zurich, but they had up to 10 students in their group lesson!!
Sadly I already invested in two pairs of jodhpur pants which have hardly been used. One was too small for me so I used it once and never again in case anyone reading this has teenagers and need size 26-28 (teen size), please PM me and we can strike a deal
