Currently living in Höngg, Zurich with my wife and 9-year old daughter, and we are contemplating a move to Oberuster (the Eastern part of Uster).
Wondered if any members are living in Oberuster, and have any opinions about it?

Hi Dan - we live in Uster (across the road from the hospital), happy to answer what I can for you. We've lived here for 4 months so are also quite new!

I live in the village next door to Uster (Greifensee) and go into Uster often for shopping, etc. So while I can't really say much about living there, specifically, I can say that from what I have seen and experienced of it, Uster seems like a lovely place to live and to raise kids.
It seems to be a good mix of feeling like you're surrounded by countryside/nature but also have shopping, restaurants, etc. close by and not feeling like you're out in the middle of nowhere. The train station there also seems to have good connections into Zurich, etc.
There is a nice indoor pool in Uster as well as a nice beach and outdoor pool area there, on the shore of Lake Greifensee. There is also a small hospital there, which can be convenient (my son was born there).
I've never seen any areas in Uster that look like they could be a "bad neighborhood" though of course some areas and some apartments are nicer than others.

@Pancakes - how is Greifensee? We are also thinking about there. Is there much going on in Greifensee or does it all take place in Uster / Zurich?
