It's apparently due to open in Autumn 2013. (It must be some significant restoration that's going on)
Building has begun on the new Apple retail store on Freiestrasse - on the site of the old Botty store.
Thats probably going to spell the end of Ingenodata in Barfy.. the one in Gundeli will probably be OK though since its far enough away.
When the apple store opened in Zürich that's what I thought about Dataquest on Bahnhofplatz, but Dataquest still seem to be going OK, despite there only being a two minute walk between the two shops
And despite amazingly bad customer service....!
To be honest I've only ever bought a couple of small things from them, and the transactions seem to have gone quite smoothly, as opposed to the apple store who always seem to be digging for your email address, post code, telephone number, first born etc.
What the hell is that thing around their necks? It's not a name badge because there's nothing written on them
Dataquest have actually taylored their strategy and have quite a number of items and accessories that the official Apple Store doesn't have. Without that smart thinking, they'd probably be history by now. They're also good on service, repairs and things and can do smaller stuff in house and while you wait whereas the Apple Store tends to send everthing away.

Yeah, but Ingeno is in a whole different league in terms of bad customer service. I had to deal with them for years both professionally and as a private customer - Ingeno's definitely one of the very few things in Basel I don't miss
I must confess I haven't been to DataQuest after the AS-Bahnhofstrasse opened (but bought my 2008 iMac there).
I do plan to buy my next machine there, or at least take them into serious consideration.
Because, their shop can't possibly be more overcrowded, more ear- and headache-inducing than the AS-Bahnhofstrasse.
