Can anyone tell me how likely it is that I will be granted a C permit after 5 years. British, arrrived here post-Brexit. Have all the basics sorted like language etc, but curious to know how challenging the integration piece is to satisfy. Live in Vaud.
Hi, as someone who’s from a non-qualified for automatic C after 5 years EU country I would say it’s easy in Vaud. I was full-time permanently employed, learned French enough to pass FIDE B1-B1.
Hello and welcome.
I’ve never applied for the C permit…due to reasons. But, all I hear from other people is positive experiences. AFAIK integration means meeting the income requirements, clean police record and language. Naturalization is the real challenge.
They just gave me the C permit. “Integration” for C permit means you are working and not sponging off the state.
There may have been some changes since I got the C permit and depending on canton, you may also have language requirements now.
Vaud has a language requirement but it is lower than for naturalisation. Check the VD.ch website .
Since there is no test or interview, you will get it if you fulfill all the formal requirements and submit all the required documents.
Exactly, I’ve just filled out the permit renewal form asking for C, attached language certificate and just got invitation to scan my biometirc for the new plastic-card permit
Thanks all for your replies!!
In most Kantons after you have completed the duration to apply for a C-permit, you have to go to the Immigration office and request them to give you the form to apply for a C-permit. If they give you the form and tell you to bring it back filled in, that means you are eligible.
The decision to get the C-permit is then based on your individual circumstances, history in Switzerland, employment status, social/welfare status, language and integration status, which is on a case-by-case basis. For C-permits the decision is normally at the Gemeinde and Kanton level generally.
MBinCH Did you end up applying for C and what was the outcome?
