In Zurich Oerlikon there is Aldi which belongs to the LIDL chain if I am correct...
Otherwise you can always google it:
Aldi Suisse
happy shopping!
theres an Aldi in Oerlikon?
excellent.. where abouts is it?
wheres the cheapest place to buy meat?
thanks
Denner tends to be pretty cheap too. Between Migros and Coop, I personally find Migros cheaper.
As for meat, the cheapest place in Switzerland is the discount bin at any supermarket at 5 to 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday. Competition's fierce though.
Would shopping in Germany be an option for you?
no not really, im looking for places around oerlikon, or online shopping, ideally. my health is the limiting factor, its not easy for me to get out and about.
They are free and it's a pretty good reflection of Swiss culture, so you get some inside knowledge too. They are both available in French and German. Aldi publishes the week's special offers on their website . this is then helpful for your meat shopping, as you can compare prices As a rule, branded booze is cheapest in Denner and they have a wine guide on their website, so it doesn't have to be pot luck. Fruit and veg is often better quality in Coop, especially avocados. If you want exotic fruit, the various Asian shops in Zurich are usually a better option, especially for Thai mangoes. Migros is better for dairy products imo slightly ot but Migros also does Balsamic Vinegar crisps, quite pricey but just like Kettle crisps Both Migros and Coop do budget lines, M-Budget and Prix Garantie respectively. Some of the things are definitely great value for money, others, like some of the meat is not worth the cheaper price. Aldi has some great stuff and even Bio products. I wouldn't recommend the salmon though, although it's tasty, it's apparently heavily treated with antibiotics and suchlike...
If you enter your postcode in the Aldi site you can find out where the closest to your home is. I go to the one on Max Bill Platz, which you can reach either on foot or with the bus departing from Bahnhof Oerlikon (not the side where Burger King is, you have to go underneath the tracks to the other side). Hope that helps, feel free to ask anything specific...
aldi have a store in oerlikon, i'll check it out tomorrow.
cheers
