Are wooden boxes considered as bio-waste in Zurich?

Hello,

I have two relatively large wooden boxes. There is a weekly schedule in Zurich to pick up bio-waste, right? I am wondering if I can leave them out of the house on the scheduled dates for bio-waste picking up. Are they bio-waste? Thanks for your support in advance.

That really doesn't cross over into English does it? I was thinking you meant like Bio-hazardous waste

Have a look at what your neighbours are leaving out.

For our village we take wood to the déchetterie and put it in a bin set aside for it. I imagine the recycling trail would be different for wood than bio-waste.

Here is the website (in German) that explains what goes where.

Wood is actually listed under "Sperrgut" (Bulky goods), mainly because it can be incinerated. Sperrgut may possibly be taken away with your regular garbage, but you would probably need to buy a special sticker for it.

No. In the city of Zurich, wood is not part of the "Bioabfall".

See "Das nicht" at https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ted/de/...bioabfall.html

They have to go in the regular garbage bags (you have to break them up small enough) or else you can take them to a recycling centre and pay to dispose them, or drop them off at the cargotram, for which latter you may not arrive by car but must be on foot, a bicycle or have travelled by public transport.

You can see the schedule, and where it's parked, here:

What do your boxes look like and how big are they? Could you try posting them here, in case someone would like to have them?

They are about 50X50X80 cm and quite old. So I dont think nobody wants to take them.

Sperrgut maybe? You need stickers for that where I am. Or maybe cargo tram.

Wooden boxes are for your barbecue.
