I’m arriving with my partner and one teenager (16) in late March. I’ll be working in Zug, so currently trying to figure out the tax/rent trade-off in the various Cantons around there, and all the school options.
I’m bringing a lot of whisky and a motorcycle with me (for enjoying separately), looking forward to doing a lot of exploring. Already finding this forum very useful!
I promise not to start any threads asking about the salary you need to live here.....

Welcome, but do check import regs from importing alcohol!
Since you’re non-EU you don’t have a choice of where you can live in Switzerland. Zug is it since they granted you the permit. As for school for a 16 year old, I think Swiss compulsory education finishes at that age.

So you’re probably looking at either an international school (expensive) or they try and get a job here.
That’s not strictly true, it is possible for non-EU to live in a different canton from their work. It’s a bit more difficult but it’s not impossible, lots of people do it here.
I had sort of assumed that if the bottle was already open it wouldn’t attract any duty, but will check!
It appears that each person is allowed to bring 12 litres of spirits without attracting duty, but 200 litres of wine! I’m starting to catalogue the collection.....
It's already bike weather, whiskey/whisky time can be fit around the motorcycling needs.
There is a bike group "International Motorbike Crew Switzerland" on FB. I've been with them once or twice. They organise a lot of spins on weekends.

Where did you find this information? I believe it is only 1 Liter of alcohol over 18% or 5 liters if below 18% but I could be wrong.

That is for normal entry when you have been abroad (hence the word duty free in the link), for moving here there are different limits.
