Asking for a friend!

A friend is interested in the contact info of this lawyer that avoided jail time for a guy caught at 235 kmh and with 1.2/1000 BAC near Winterthur. Just in case

Damn! a 5k fine for going 115km over the speed limit, it’s…tempting. Hopefully, this is a legal precedent for all drivers going 100+kmh above speed limit with more than 0.08 pro mille blood alcohol content that tell the judge they feel really really sorry.

A friend of mine has had to pay over SFr. 1,000 in fines and fees for going 48 in a 30 km/h zone in Zürich. Fifteen months of jail time seems excessive for the above offence but the 5,000 Franc fine is low considering he was going more than 100 km/h too fast.

Ha! it’s suspended jail time. I’d just go live somewhere else and return to CH when the heat has gone down.

That could be considered a much worse ‘crime’ as they are sharing space with pedestrians, cyclists and children.

At 30Km//h, if a pedestrian is hit - they have a 10% chance of dying.
At 50Km/h it’s an 80% chance of dying.

The autobahn speedster was not sharing his space with such vulnerable people.

I went through a speed camera last week, I’m devastated at myself. I’m normally so conscientious. The camera had been set up right after a zone change (from 70km to 50km) and I honestly don’t even have an excuse - I simply didn’t see the speed sign. I suspect I was distracted by looking at my GPS.
I have no idea what to expect in terms of a fine because obviously I don’t know what I got clocked at. But TIS, I’m sure it’s gonna hurt!

The same happened to me a few years ago. 1 month driving ban and a 600.- fine. The fine hurt the most…

That’s the fine only. Temporary license suspension is certain, probably until he has proven his ability to function properly behind the wheel as he’s to undergo a psychological evaluation i.e. he has to prove his ability. Without such proof the suspension probably has permanent effect. And of course such proof comes at the driver’s expense, remember the Arbon resident’s license suspension a few months ago (supposedly he just had a few beers at home in celebration of his son’s birth).

The license suspension will come with costs, costs determined by his income on top of the levied administrative costs.

The mentioned 5k is only the beginning of it the financial pain. And often, the license suspension hurts much more than the financial cost.

What I find surprising, is that the police didn’t stop him immediately. Apparently the situation wasn’t deemed an immediate threat despite speeding through (unpopulated?) road construction sites. Apparently that allowed the producing of additional evidence.

I got my speeding fine and I am very relieved!
I was clocked doing 59 in a 50 zone, with 3kms knocked off for error margin.
The fine is 120 CHFs.
