I found in Comparis that Assura and SwissCare(sanitas) are cheap...

Do you guys have phone number to Assura(their website is in french)?I found contact number for SwissCare(Sanitas)....Both of them cost around 300CHF per month...

Do you guys have any other cheaper suggestions?

Thanks.

Hej,

Comparis seem to be very good for comparing most companies.

Keep in mind that your location plays a role in price calculation.

Otherwise said, if someone replies to your question and recommend you his/her insurance company, that does not necessarily implies YOU will get the same "cheap" offer.

Assura seem to have a very bad website. Reason why I kept away from them.

However, I found the following Contact page on their Website.

Try to drop them a line in English, if you do not speak French, German or Italian.

go onto google and look up "assura pully telephone number" that gives you the branch number in pully. it gets you directly to them and doesn't charge premium. I found it by fluke last time so good luck.

I used this guy for Assura. Pretty good and helpful. He is a broker.

Hi,

I have been searching for low cost Insurance service providers in Switzerland, especially Zurich.

Came across Assura.

How is the service from Assura?

And do these brokers as mentioned above by Rahul Singh, charge anything aditional as a broker fees?

Kindly let me know.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I tried to call Assura (0842 277 872) to check whether they will accept our application to join them and terminate our current insurance with Avanex. But, I couldn't reach them. I just understood the following words from the automatic voice message.

"Guten Tag" in the beginning "Montag to Freitag" in the middle and "Vielen Dank" at the end. Then the call ends. I don't understand the exact message. Is there any particular time schedule there to call? I tried to reach them at 12 noon.

They're probably closed for lunch. Try in an hour or so. You generally can only change insurer at the end of the year, having given notice in before 1st October.

Thank you so much NotAllThere.

Regarding change of insurer, isn't it three months notice with an acceptance letter of new insurer, at anytime we wish? That is what I understood from my so far analyze (throughout EF and in Avanex site).

Please correct me if wrong.

As far as I know, you can give notice to your insurance only once a year, end of december, and by giving a 3-month notice. That's why there's always a great rush and publicity around sept-oct!

Assura seems indeed to be the cheapest. Here are the best options (always depending on your private situation) to reduce even more the costs:

- take a high franchise if you know you're not often sick

- take the option 'médecin de famille' - thus agreeing to always see your GP first and let him/her refer you to a specialist

- take the option 'Sunstore', where you agree to go only to Sunstore pharmarcies for your prescriptions. You are then awarded 10% off all their products

- pay for the whole year if you can afford it, you spare an additional 5% on your monthly fee

Have they an email address? I have registered on the accounts page but no luck raising support from there

No idea about email. But they do speak nicely (in English) in phone. I called them and spoke regarding a new health insurance from them. They told me to select the scheme I wanted, from their website, print it, sign and send to their Basel address.

I did the same and waiting for response.

The number listed here and also on website seems to be missing a digit.

Am not able to get through. Does anyone please have another number to contact Assura Insurance. Would really appreciate it.

Assura is terrible for phone assistance in terms of waiting times. I've called them and had to wait long time. The service is what you would expect from cheap premiums: enough to get by and without frills.

That is actually not all true or false They are verry picky at reimbursing. They are cheap as they ask the clients to take care of most of the administrative work. (only send the bills when your yearly bills are higher then the franchise) etc. It is pretty important to understand how Assura works to really apreciate it. I have heard of allot of people going there without anyone explaining anything to them.

I personaly think it is a good insurance and (the cheapest) but you have to understand how they work to not have reimburse problems.
