Auction for "ZH 24"

Apparently, the ZH number plate “ZH 24” is coming up for auction from Thursday morning at 07:00

Kanton ZH auctions off low or special pattern number plates on it’s official website. Given that 3 digit plates go routinely for 20-25K, expect this low two-digit plate to go for a mid 6 figure sum.

Still, it won’t get close to the price of plates in NSW Australia, where numeric plates have sold in the 7-figure range. NSW “1” holds the record with 11.5 Million AUD (ca. 7 million francs).

Gee, I wonder if I could get BL 1 or even better BS 1?

Many years ago I worked with a guy who had SG 63…apparently it had been in his family for decades.

Dubai #1 sold more than a decade ago for over $14MM…

I will never understand this.

Because you actually have to work for your money.

People that can vote should vote to make the front plates not necessary anymore. So, designers have the freedom to make beautiful objects.

Sorry, as an ex-HWP, I’d vote to keep the front plate.

Like Florida, where my front plate was a Swiss flag.

We still have rearward facing speed cameras here.

Great, the purpose of car plates is fulfilled while the front of the car has one restriction less to be as beautiful as designers can dream

Unless it’s a Nissan.

Hmm, been more muted than I expected…cost of living must be biting at the top end. But still, if you’ve got a spare 200K lying around you’re in with a chance:

My understanding is that if you buy such a plate you cannot sell it on, you can only give it back or hand it down to your descendants.

With no kids, that would be an expensive purchase

With no kids you probably can afford it.

I am unfortunately in the wrong canton.

That’s Porsche 911 GT3 Touring money

The auction finished just shy of 300K. I’d love to see it end up on a Lada Niva.

Probably Andy2 optimized his taxes all his life. Somehow, ends up donating 299’900 CHF to Canton Zürich coffers.

At 299K the new car choices are:

  • A poorly tuned MB G63 AMG?
  • A hybrid MB S63 AMG?
  • A MB Maybach?
  • A MB SL63 AMG in primer gray?

Maybe Andy2 was right, the plate will make him happier since cars around ~300K CHF :face_vomiting:
