Audi A3 repair cost

It is usually a condition of the lease agreement in an rented apartment. It is not mandatory, but as has been said before, it is a good idea.

I'm talking about as private individual, not simply as a renter or car owner. As far as I know, everyone I've come across in my 30+ years here in Geneva has had it.... and several of them have had to use it!

I think that some cantons require it, but I only got it after 6 or 7 years, and my wife never had it until she married me three years ago (and she's lived here her whole life).

Thanks everybody for the answers!

Yeah, looks like 3000CHF is quite reasonable. We'll get ready for this.

As about the insurance, it may depend on a canton but it's definitely not mandatory in AG and unfortunately isn't included in our household policy.

Take care you all and buy that insurance for kids!

IF you can persuade your neighbour to use a German garage, I can thoroughly recommend Brändlin in Lörrach, he will make an excellent repair at half the price:

It's not mandatory by law. But as others have mentioned it's highly recommended and your landlord may require it if you rent.

3000 sounds about right. I dare to say it's even pretty reasonable.

Some kid once keyed my car, it was just a paint job, cost 2500 - that was 11 years ago. Highly doubt repairs have gotten any cheaper in the meantime. I once drove into a pillar in a parking garage and had a small dent (much smaller than what is seen on your picture) - repair cost 1800.

You can try to convince your neighbor to bring the car in Germany or France for repair; however, if he wants to use his usual garage, that's 100% his decision. Back when the kid keyed my car, its family was less than enthused that I went to my usual garage and said that "their friend of a friend" could have done it cheaper - well, honestly, I didn't care, not my problem.

Agree on undertaking that insurance, though. It's dirt cheap, 100-200 or so a year.

For me the solution if your neighbour is reasonable since the car is very old for Switzerland (7 years) is to repair in a neighbour country.

If u go to Stuttgart for sure it will be less than 1000 euros in an Audi dealer.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement, plenty of people have cars that are much older... looked after, loved and sometimes also worth more than you'd think.

When it comes down to it, why should Lida's neighbour spent time taking a car all the way to Germany to save her money fixing damage caused by her son?

She's admitted that he did it, presumably he's going to be made to understand the trouble he's caused (both to his parents and the neighbour) and Lida will sort out some insurance in case something like this ever happens again!

It's not always about getting things done as cheaply as possible, sometimes it's about accepting your responsibilties and dealing with them.
