Authentic Chinese Restaurants?

Any recommendations for really good Chinese, not Thai, restaurants? I'm Chinese and craving really good Chinese food. Too bad there's not little Chinatown in Switzerland. LOL

Be prepared to be disappointed as far as authentic Chinese cuisine is concerned in Bern, or anywhere else in CH. I am from Asia and love Chinese food but do not think they might meet your expectations.

If you are into cooking, it is so much easier as the ingredients can be readily found just about anywhere.

Asian grocery stores and restaurant in Bern?

There is this Chinese place at the corner of Rue du Tunnel in Lausanne, which is not far off the mark. I do not remember the name anymore (maybe Chez Xu)

But here are the map coordinates -

thanks jrspet, for the edit with additional information

This is a really good Chinese restaurant that is supposedly

the "best" in Switzerland.

It was definitely good, but it is in Küssnacht am Rigi.

some of our clients are chinese and they recommended me for zurich:

restaurant entehuus: http://www.entehuus.ch/default1.htm

unfortunately i haven't been here before

and

suan long (it's a chain, i was very surprised when they mentioned this one).

but apparently it's really nice. i just ordered the wrong dishes (sweet sour). very good dim sum.

please let me know if you try entehuus

In Züri:

Beyond

Zollstrasse 20, 8005 Zürich

Ask for the Chinese menu.

Zurich? That's west of Baden, mate.

The "Entehuus" near Enge station in Zurich is average.

I've searched for seven years and in short: There is none. There are a couple of authentic restaurants, but none of them is near "really good".

- Beyond is the best authentic Szechuan restaurant in Zurich. And the only one.

- Luo is authentic, a bit on the cantonese side plus a couple of standards. Decent food at a fairly high price.

- Ya Ke on Weststrasse has an authentic menu next to the normal one. If I remeber correctly was the lovely couple running the place from Taiwan and the authentic dishes were classics - some needed prior order, so call them up before you go. Portions are huge, so the price was decent. Cooking style was a bit on the simple side, say for example "Lion's head".

All others I have tried are not worth to be mentioned. Reality is that with the prices Swiss restaurants charge, a weekend trip to Amsterdam or Paris - where they do have Chinatowns - is even more appealing.

which city?

my fave ones are the one in wettingen, at hotel city (sorry i cant recall the name of the restaurant). they have great peking duck, tho one has to order at least a day in advanced.

another one is baguette d'or in geneva, at plain palais.

When you come to Geneva, you may want to try Tse Yang

Quai du Mont-Blanc 19

Very authentic food to me but very pricy too!

I would definitely recommend Luo's in Zurich. (Stampfenbachstrasse 60)

It's right next to the Zürich, so the location is great.

The food is delicious, a bit more Cantonese style, but the Chef makes all the food by himself! The decor is absolutely amazing!

Definitely reserve before, and check out the opening dates, as they are not open as often as normal restaurants!

I'm Chinese too, and I'm not hoping to find any "authentic" Chinese restaurant here. You need to understand that the authentic style Chinese restaurants need a big enough Chinese population to support, otherwise it has no option but to modify for local taste. And losing its authenticity. So just save the appetite up & fly back to China once in a while.

This is the best one in Bern, http://www.boky.ch/index01.html it is near Starbucks.
