Auto rubbish bag dispenser

Spotted this at our commune admin centre the other day when putting our rubbish bag into the crate for collection. Anyone else seen one of these anywhere? Good idea especially if your commune/gemeinde is like ours in the summer and only opens for a few hours a couple of days in the week during July and August.

Think the translation means debit card (I hope so!) rather than credit card.

Can’t you buy bin bags elsewhere? In our neck of the woods they have them in Coop, Migros, Landi, Volg, and probably other places, too.

You have to ask for them at the cash desk.

It’s the same here, we can even get the bags for both Bern and Neuchâtel in the Aldi near us.
I’m not sure the commune office even sells bin bags, everyone just buys them in the stores.
The service stations have them too so it’s possible to buy them even on Sundays.

I only know the geminde sells trash bags because it was mentioned in the welcome letter when I registered to live here.

But, I have never bought them there. Local Denner is closer. Also available at Migros, Coop, Volg, Migrolino, and the like.

Sadly, not. Only the commune admin office has them. The tea room used to sell them, but they stopped doing so a while ago. You can get them in other parts of the commune, but that means driving to the locations to get them while I can walk to the admin office. Never seen anything in all the years that says they’re sold in places like Migros, Coop, etc, and never seen any signs in stores to say they do either. I’ve always just got them from either the tea room or the commune admin office when I need them.

Might be worth just asking when you’re paying up at Migros or Coop. They keep them with the cashier but there are no signs or anything. Always feels like I should do a furtive look around then wink before asking “Give us a roll of 20, luv”.

Coop even sells our bags (and many other bags) online for several years already, so I can just add them to my usual groceries order.

Also at the post office.

Rarely go into a Migros or Coop anyway. A few things I get in Migros, but haven’t bought anything in a Coop for years. Aldi, Lidl and maybe Denner for my shopping and nearest Aldi/Lidl are either Murten or Fribourg.

Yeah, anywhere that takes credit cards will also take debit cards. Our prepaid bags can be bought at any supermarket in the canton (and the one next door) so there wouldn’t be much point to the machines, plus we have bins through out the village to drop them in, but I can see if you need to take them to a central place then this might not be a bad idea.

Yes, our nearest drop off for the rubbish bags is the commune admin centre.

Seriously, all supermarkets have these bags - even Aldi and Lidl.

They don’t make a big thing about it - the bags are not exactly a crowd pleaser.

I’ll have to ask in the Aldi/Lidl we regularly go to then. I’ve occasionally seen signs by a check out that they stock so and so’s bags, but never ours.

I checked your commune website and none of the big stores are listed there.
The sale of your specific bags seems to be limited to a select few commerces plus the commune office and the bag machine.

I suppose if there are different bags for lots of different communes they can’t really stock them all.
The taxed bags are the same for the whole canton here so every commune which uses the taxed bag system has the same bag so a they’re widely available in a lot of stores and other places.

In VS/VD the bags are certainly available at Lidl, Aldi and Denner as well as Migros and Coop. And we have two smaller supermarkets in the village, a Volg and an “Edelweiss Market” which also both sell them.

I like that in some touristic locations you can even buy a single bag. It is very convenient, if you stay in AirBnB for a week or more. Unfortunately, most owners only provide one bag for your stay.

Well yes, that’s what I do too. Same with other stuff like toilet paper, washing-up liquid, tea and coffee. I always make sure there is some of everything so guests don’t need to rush out to the shops as soon as they’re arrived.

I can’t see why the paid rubbish bags should be any different (yes, I know that’s not what you are saying), although on occasion, particularly near the end of a stay, I have been known to let them have another one if they ask for it. Like toilet rolls, as well, not gonna make someone go out and buy a 4-pack when they’re leaving the next morning.

It’s never occurred to me that the local shops might sell the bags as singles, next time I’m at one of them I’ll ask, but I think it’s unlikely. Might even be illegal to break up the pack on the basis that it’s a state-priced thing, IYSWIM, and by separating them you could potentially also inflate the price per bag.

Which is why two out of three times I end up at home NOT having bought them. Darn.

Ooohh I’ve not heard “luv” for such a long time.
I take it that is not woke though.
