Aveda - anywhere cheap

Is there anywhere to get Aveda where it doesn't cost 5 times what it does in Beverly Hills? In the US (and I do mean Beverly Hills) the shampoo is $14, here it's 73CHF. I think it must come in on its own lear jet.

I know this is Switzerland where to sole aim seems to be to keep out the riff raff, but this is serious rip off territory.

I have never managed to find it at a reasonable price here. But try strawberrynet.com I have bought off their site previously and found it to be good value!

Nope. Time to switch brands. There are plenty of excellent European brands available.

I just bought a 1 litre bottle of shampoo when I was in the US -- $30 -- when I bought the small bottle here it was close to 40CHF -- I'll be stocking up again in March -

Ebay. You can get the massive salon sizes too.

I saw some product on www.ricardo.ch it's like Ebay.

You could also go to Sephora. I think there is one in Mulhouse in france.. have a look and see online where they are at. You can get Frederik Fekkai shampoo there for about 20 euros a pop.

I understand you needing the shampoo. I am also very anal about using nice products, it makes a world of difference to your hair.

But I always found Aveda to make my hair really ganky, or I dont know I could feel residue in it. I love Frederik Fekkai

Oh I didnt realise you lived in Lausanne

Oddly enough, www.aveda.ch seems to be the cheapest. 1000ml bottle of Colour Conserve conditioner:

UK retail price : £68 / CHF 103.29

Friend's UK website : £61.43 / CHF 93.31 (but add postage, £3.95 plus £1.55 per item)

Strawberry.net : EUR 92.50 / CHF 111.36 (no postage cost)

lookfantastic.com £55.25 / CHF 83.78 (can't find postage costs, but FAQs suggest there is one, and they point out you will be charged VAT on import - and in Switzerland from my experience you get a whacking admin fee on top of that)

hqhair don't or no longer carry Aveda.

aveda.ch : EUR 66.39 / CHF 79.97 - but EUR 14.90 (CHF 17.95) postage no matter the value of goods, plus it says it sends (from Germany) "without VAT identification" - there's a little gift parcel icon next to this, suggests this is a good thing, but am not entirely sure that I will get away without import duty - we'll see, I've ordered and I'll update.

Can't remember what it was in the pureaveda salon in Basel, but do remember it was much more expensive than my friend's site, something like CHF 30 more if I remember correctly.

Watch out for ordering from non-CH websites - earlier this year I ordered my Aveda from my friend's online shop in the UK, much cheaper than in the salon - two parcels, each containing one 1000ml bottle of shampoo/conditioner, CHF 25-30 each for the duty plus admin fee and had to collect from the post office. Pain. Physically and financially.

Strawberry.net say "Over 90% of orders are delivered without additional customs charges, especially in USA, Australia and New Zealand.

In the event that you are charged VAT or additional taxes when your order is delivered we will reimburse for your expense. We do this on a purely goodwill basis as we are not obligated to cover VAT costs.

To be reimbursed for your expense, please collect your package and pay any taxes and keep the receipt. You can then submit a VAT claim through our website and we will refund the amount of the charge. All refund claims must be made within 6 months from your order date."

Given the price comparison, I'm not going to go through that hassle, or risk.

Planetali - How did ordering from the Aveda.de site work for you? Did you have to pay customs???

simple answer: nope

Hi Natascha, I forgot I said I'd come back! No, no customs, arrived without a problem - will do that again.

there is an aveda salon at the lausanne palace- they have aveda products for sale there too. cheap, no. but maybe the same after tax and shipping.

Little update: some weirdness with aveda.ch. Redirects to aveda.de, as it did before, but they now tell me they can't find my account and only deliver in Germany. But I did order from them before! I've lost the emails from them, but will try to get to the bottom of it - for now, I can't recommend aveda.ch!

Another update: In the Aveda salon in Basel last week there were notices up saying that Aveda Germany was standardising their prices across Europe and so prices in Switzerland would be reduced! Example given showed 10CHF reduction on an 85CHF product.

Feelunique.com has started stocking Aveda , but GBP 22 for 200 ml of shampoo? Wow. Rather amusingly they also stock Weleda, is closer to home and may be worth a try.
