Well, I am glad the antigen test is now an option, as they are available many places in the US and often for free or at least cheap, but....
AARRRGGGGHHHH!
I have already paid $750 for guaranteed PCR test results taken late on Christmas Eve. That was the only way to make sure OH and I had the required documentation under the old rules within the time frame to make our flight back. Not to mention the timing of the PCR test means we we'll miss Christmas Eve dinner...
You know what I really want for Christmas? A crystal ball, so that I can better plan for ever-changing rules.
Similar situation as I was going "home" for Christmas and only returning on Jan 2nd..... so had to book a PCR test early to avoid getting stuck with New Year and weekend......
edit: my OH was supposed to fly into CH this morning, and couldn't board because his PCR test results weren't back yet (there's a place in hell for scammy PCR test providers who don't provide results within promised timeframes). If this decision had been taken yesterday, he wouldn't be out of pocket £500
And what I also hate is that it's been 2 years now and those frigging tests did not came down in price not a single dime. I can understand in the beginning everyone was short on mask/test whatever supplies.
Now they are probably working on increasing profit margins, that's all
With the home office regulation in place there will be less people on public transit. If you are smart you can protect yourself from the ones that break the rules by wearing a well fitted ffp2 or fffp3 mask and carrying some disinfectant with you.
