Awaiting DPD delivery

I'm waiting for a package delivery by DPD - my Lions tour merchandise, as a matter of fact - but there was no-one home yesterday to accept it and the driver didn't appear to leave a note or anything. Do you know if they would just try again today automatically, or do I have to contact them to arrange a drop-off or delivery time?

Their website is a bit of a mess and the only number I've seen is an 0848 number (and then only by Googling, it's not anywhere on their standard site). Since the driver left no note and reference number, I can't create a contact dialogue and I don't want to have to create a DPD account for the sake of one package. The last tracking information is that they were unsuccessful in delivering yesterday at 13:52 and nothing since. MrsG will stay at home this afternoon in case it turns up, but what would happen if there would be no-one home again today?

There should be something on the site where you can leave a message for the driver i.e to leave it behind a bin or whatever. I did that with my last order that was delivered through DPD. Your last tracking information should be linked to your personal delivery I would have thought? Click that link and see what information comes up.

Believe me, I've tried, but I don't seem to have the correct combination of information to do so. You need the shipment number and SMS code, whatever that is, or the reference number (supposedly left by the driver) and a postcode. I have the shipment number and my postcode, but not the others. It's just bizarre, or I'm missing something totally obvious.

Update: OK, so it's "out for delivery" again - at 5:48 this morning - so their tracking status is only delayed by 8 hrs .

At least it's not ice cream in this weather.

Fun fact of the day: DPD pronounced in french, sounds like "some faggots".

Yes.

Like you said, you have 2 options apparently, on the main page.

But the official procédure is, the driver should have left you a note, and you decide whats next. It does not say about "automatic redelivery attempt":

https://www.dpd.com/ch_en/home/picku...tion_des_colis

You could not do this one:

I have Reference Number (the one left on the note by the delivery driver) and Postal Code

https://dpdgetyourparcel.ch/login?lang=en

(option 2).

The other one, SMS code, seems to be sent by DPD...

Could you try the German page, less restrictive?: https://www.dpd.com/tracking_de/%28lang%29/de

Or this international one:

https://www.dpd.com/tracking/(lang)/en_CH/en_CH)

There it seems better as it asks only parcel label number.

There's not much about that SMS CODE, where to get it or how/when it's sent.

As I said, the driver left no notification card; we've looked everywhere. So we don't have a reference number to arrange some other delivery option. Believe me, I've visited every single one of those pages. What I find frustrating is there is no contact phone number anywhere.

It finally arrived, squeezed so tight into the parcel box, my wife could barely remove it. She waited all day and then a signature wasn't even requested. What a useless cowboy operation they are.

I can't even see where I can leave customer feedback on their website, absofeckinglutely useless .

I am also not happy with their delivery service... same delivery scheme where you cannot get them deliver at reasonable times.

And as a bonus, they sent me a 58 CHF invoice for customs clearing of a 41 EUR item. The actual VAT was 6 chf.

The biggest such ripp-off that happened to me.

Unfortunately, on some online shops you do not know which delivery service they use... so this still happens from time to time.

aren't shipments with a value of less than 60 CHF VAT-free?

or didn't the online shop just not declare the value of the parcel correctly?
