B-Post To the USA

Currently, I am receiving A-Post to the USA in 7 days without fail. Same for Spain, Germany, Hungary, etc.

I had 2 letters (not packages) sent to me via B-Post from Zurich on November 2nd, 2012. 21 business days later they have not arrived.

Can others share their experiences specific to B-Post form CH to the USA?

Normally, B-Post to the states (also Atlanta) runs 6-12 days. Whereas A-Post can be as speedy as 3 days. It can happen, that they got caught up in the pre-holiday traffic. Not acceptable, but can happen.

A large envelope was sent a distance between two towns, approx. 10 km. The envelope landed in a distant country... Turkey I believe. Friend of mine, she was pictured in the local tabloid "Blick" with this envelope

Other possibility... it was never sent. You know, "the check is in the mail" story

They were sent, I have the receipt in hand. Comically, the receipt and some other documents were sent from Spain two days later and arrived a week later.

Unfortunately, the sender did not realize at the time they went out economy...

Unfortunately B-Post is not trackable. A-Post letter as well. Only packages (for sure) or certified letters (I believe, don't shoot me if I am wrong). Again, be patient. The pre-Christmas postage rush is on.

Thanks for your response and others in private mail. The general consensus is that they will arrive, but it can be up to 6 weeks.

Any input from other members is welcome.

For anyone who is searching on google for "delayed mail from Switzerland" "how long does it take for economy letter" "surface mail letter from Europe" "mail delays from switzerland?"

Don't worry, your letter(s) will arrive, but do not go by the time listed on the swiss post website. They state 10 to 15 business days.

My letter was mailed economy from Zurich on Nov 1, 2012. It arrived in Atlanta, GA on Dec 12, 2012, unopened and in perfect condition.

Based on messages I have received from others on the forum, 6 weeks is about how long it takes for B-Post / Economy / Surface mail from Switzerland to arrive. With most all of us getting really concerned at week 4!

As I stated in my other post, A-Post (priority mail) is very fast and efficient. 7 days... like clockwork.

Admins - Sorry for the use of keywords, but I found this great forum while searching Google for information on mail delivery from Switzerland.

A-Post letters are considered as Airmail. B-Post letters will most likely end up on a boat. I only use A-Post for international mail because not only takes B-Post longer but it happened more than once that my letters didn't arrive at all. Might be coincidence...or not...
