Thanks!
Does anyone know of a swimming pool in or near Zurich that has a separate baby/toddler pool? I would also like to take my 9-month old son to baby swimming classes so wondered if anyone knows if such classes exist in Zurich, ideally on the weekend..?
There is a warm pool near Waidspital, on the 69 bus route. It has a family swim 12-16 on Sundays. Can get a bit busy, but it's nice to have warmer water for the little ones.
I take my 8 month old to Kaferberg, the swimming pool near the Waidspital on Sundays. If you go at 12 then it isn't too busy, there were less than 10 people inc ourselves last time we went at 12. A friend has taken her baby to the swimming pool in Altstetten, which has a separate baby area, and she said that was good. Kaferberg doesn't have a separate baby pool, but does have a section of the pool sectioned off for the serious swimmers.
There is one in Wadenswil (20-30 mins ride from Zurich centre)
Here is the website (only in German)
Waterbabies.ch - use Kilchberg - which is rather lovely pool - with separate child area.
Does anyone know if you can take babies into the Hallenbad in the city?
My baby is 4 months old and I want to introduce her to water, but not have to commit to going on a course.
And we have baby swim classes with floating and submersion training, in a 33 degree pool!
A four month old is fine to take to the pool. The only thing is that they cool down very quickly, so if the pool isn't at least 33 degrees you will find that after about 10 mins, 4 mo's tend to turn blue.
The older they get the better they are at regulating their body temperature.
Yeah Hallenbad in the city has a separate baby pool and the water was warm as well. Oerlikon and Altstetten (busiest pool) both have separate kids pool but City one at Selnau may be the best for you to start at.
Thanks for the help here. I think that I will start with the Hallenbad and go from there...the mother wants to go to the lake this afternoon, though I am pretty sure that it will be far too cold for our daughter.
Far too cold! But tell her to go to the Mythen Quai Freibad. It's on the lake and it has a toddler pool, which is probably nicely warmed from the sun by now.
The Fohrbach in Zollikon has a great toddler's pool indoors and outdoors. Water's around 24°C - 25°C at the moment.
Much too cold for more that 5 to 10 minutes for a 4 month old.
while we are asking about pools, can anyone tell me where does baby swimming lessons in zurich or near zollikon??
Meilen is close to zurich (15 mins from stadelhofen) and has a lovely pool with warm ambient temperature and on a Tuesday they krank up the pool water heat by a couple of degrees (to 33c) making it nice and toasty for little ones. they have baby classes/lessons on Tuesday's too. Our little one loved it, happily splashing ar
