Bad Cleaning Company- anywhere to report?

Hi-

I met a cleaner on one of the cleaning apps,

Used him for one year and then he opened his own cleaning company.

As i was happy with his service, i continued despite the relatively high price 42chf per hour.

Now he forced to buy his 200chf cleaning materials which are probably worth half that price, which I refused and he said that cleaning will not happen from now on.

We have a cancellation clause that notice period is 1 month, but he is not even keeping that.

On top of that he said his price is going to be 59chf per hour for new clients so good luck witthat- but anyhow im annoyed with this threatening sales strategy and was wondering if there is anywhere to report malpractice or so.

What exactly is he threatening? What do you want to report? That he raised his prices?

Malpractice?

Its quite common for cleaning companies/cleaning ladies to want to use specific products, mine buys them herself and I reimburse her. Sometimes I round up as it saves me time that she goes and does it.

I do not find 42 CHF an hour a high price for an experienced cleaner. If you calculate it, assuming a cleaner manages 6 hours a day considering moving around clients, this is a total of 5040 CHF a month and this includes both worker and employs contributions so a net salary of about 4400 CHF - which is not exactly a super high salary! Agency probably skims a bit also....

This isn't malpractice, it's just bad service. You have an offer that isn't acceptable and now you're parting ways. There's no need to report this to anyone, certainly there's nothing to be gained. Move on and find another cleaner.

We used to pay our cleaning guy 50 an hour 10 years ago.

In my area, CHF 50+/hr has pretty much been the norm for a long time for cleaning services provided by an agency where you are the client not the employer.

It would not surprise me that prices are rising beyond that, as around here there is more demand for household help than people looking to do the work. A cleaning service company needs to offer better conditions today than they did a few years ago in order to attract employees. Add in the hike in gas prices, supplies...

I have no interest in hiring a cleaner privately, as I don't want to take on the hassle and risks of being an employer. An extra hundred or so per month to free me of those headaches is IMO a good investment.

Bottom line, if you are not happy with this service, try another. But be aware that similar practices are fairly common across the sector, and prices are rising everywhere.

How dare he request a living wage! Escort your cleaner out to the paddock and have your butler shoot him, one should not tolerate such malpractice. Promote your Clerk of the Spicery, or the Yeomen of the Salt-Store to cleaning duty.

Is this only me, but I understood that OP intention was to report the cleaner not because of price increase, but rather not respecting notice period and asking to buy cleaning agents which might not be mentioned in the contract?

Finally someone whom understood my question. I am not complaining for the 42chf per hour, we used to pay 35chf and agreed with the increase.

What I don't understand is, is the one sided termination based on unwanted material purchase and after disagreement there was no notice period whatsoever.

I did move on with another cleaner, but i do not want other people having to deal with such an unprofessional company

Got it. Issue is this is happening all over in business - price increases not agreed in contract etc. Its a tough world out there and obviously the company has enough demand to afford losing you as a customer. Not ideal but doubt there is much you can do about it.

Their requests do not seem unreasonable and you did claim the 42 CHF was "relatively high price" and many of us did not agree.

If I were you I would just move on.
