My wife and I recently purchased a rug from iRugs.ch and are quite unhappy with the company. Never buy from these people
Here is where things went sideways.
With our diplomatic status, I should have been able to purchase the rug free from VAT. I sent them the proper paperwork, but they refused to accept it. I will have to file for a refund at the end of the year.
Sorry you've had an issue. By VAT, do you mean mwst?
The last rug I bought from them, I placed the order and then realised I would be away on the designated delivery date. I emailed them and the woman managing customer service for Switzerland (or at least Zurich) called me back on a Saturday and we were able to rearrange the delivery.
I've just never had a problem, but they may not deal with a lot of diplomatic service customers - I think the company is located in North or South Carolina. Guess you had crap luck.
Or they don't give a flying stuff about the OPs diplomatic status. Anyway, why should a diplomat be exempt from paying VAT/MwSt? Nice trolling though Just claim it back when you declare your taxes you cheating bum.
So because some newbie who has some form of minor diplo status couldn't manage to get his rug without VAT and throws his toys out of the pram in a hissy fit, you're ready to accept this at face value and refuse to deal withn the supplier ?
It's a fairly special case diplo status and VAT, maybe the retailer didn't want to bother and diplo got a bit pissed off his high status wasn't give the due respect he thought it merited.
Lets be honest, there are a whole lot of very minor diplo's in Geneva with the UN to start with....
I used them once more than 5 years ago, was a very good deal, actually they don’t have that good carpets as they used to. Anyways did not have any problems and if I recall correctly the shipment was from within Switzerland and hence to customs.
Yep, I read BostonToZurich's post as "Great, thanks for introducing me to that shop, I'm going to order a rug from them now", i.e. "Grow up, OP, get a life (and stop bragging about your minor diplomatic status, nobody cares)".
