Uh oh. Before the snow I had raised my balcony shade curtain and essentially kept it up to protect what I had on the balcony. Well, it just collapsed, strong metal buckled, under the heavy snow. Who would pay for the repair? Had no idea this would happen!
It really doesn't take a lot of snow to break stuff..
At new year I bought / built a gazebo thing for the garden, so we could party outside, bonfire etc.. It snowed off and on and I had to keep clearing snow from it .. At on point we went inside for an hour and came back out to this .. Catastrophe. .
The thing was check and the reviews on Galaxus did say it was crap.. It served it's purpose I suppose.
Thanks everyone. I was using it to protect what I had on my balcony. It was the metal arms that snapped - incredible. I didn't even think about the snow being so heavy. I appreciate all your comments and understand I should have been more vigilant and careful.
Settled snow is almost as dense as liquid water, so a 50cm fall on a balcony shade two metres wide is going to weigh in the order of three tonnes. Not surprising it collapsed.
Sure, I thought it was funny. Not in the least bit "rude", just a very mild micky-take. British humour, perhaps, which not everyone 'gets', but really nothing nasty or insulting about it.
