Bank account in CHF

Hello,

I left Switzerland but the tax office has to return me some monies. I no longer have a CHF bank account.

Would you know a way to open an account in CHF where to get my payment? (I would need an IBAN) Any online bank with free account?

I'm afraid that the tax office pays euros to my bank account in EUR applying a high commission + bad FX rate (same case if my EUR bank received CHF and does the currency conversion).

Thanks

Can't you open a CHF denominated account in your country?? (In mine that's possible in many banks for example)

Another there are 2 'mobile app' accounts, one is neon-free.ch and second is ZAK from bank cler... not sure if this will work though if you're not Swiss resident anymore.

Postfinance has account for non-residents but I don't have a clue if you can open remotely.

They don't charge a high commission, you will spend more on the new bank account.

What you mean?

Opening an account, and paying the monthly fees, will cost more.

SEPA transfers in Euros cost from nothing (BCV) to very little (Raiffeisen is 1 CHF). Just get the money transferred in Euros to your account.

If the tax authorities won't do that, use the account of a friend as an intermediate.

Not if he opens a free one.

Why not transfer wise borderless account, or our old favourite revolut. Get the money transferred there in chf and move to wherever they want when they want

Hi

Opening an online account multicurrency was finally not an option. Too messy just for one payment and a small amount.

So I requested the Tax Office to pay in EUR, otherwise let me know. They did not say anything and wired the monied in CHF (...). Thanks God my bank accepts credits in other currencies.

My bank applied an acceptable FX and a 5 euros fee so not bad

CHF 1.269,05

Rate 1.082825

Commission 5 euros

Final net amount 1.166,98

Case closed and money in the pocket

Thanks folks!

for anyone reading this in the UK, if you want to keep the CHF and not try fintech banking sites that might make your cash disappear , HSBC has free cHF accounts if you open a regular account with them in pounds (search currency accounts).
