Banksy exhibition in Lausanne 2025

“there’s nothing more dangerous than someone that wants to make the world a better place” how accurate although Banksy probably said that long before Trump.

details informational texts are in French and English, the website says.

Let’s not be deterred by the “a genius mind” even if this is something we no longer really like to read about someone :smirk:

I pointed this out on EF.

banksy does not do exhibitions. Therefore, you are not supporting banksy directly by going.

If you feel this is your only way to access his art go for it.

Had you clicked the link, the first thing you would have seen: “An unauthorized exhibition”.
Nobody claims it’s him who organized it. And they said it was not approved yet also not denied by him (or rather the organisation that speaks for him - or her).

yeah so the reason i say that is:

“his tribute and the works on display are unauthorized by the artist due to his anonymous status.”

That’s a bit BSish

banksy organized dismaland

Banksy has had a few exhibitions although Art Installations would be a more accurate term for many of them. Locations have included London and Bristol, his home town.

These have been free to enter apart from Dismaland in Western-super-mare, UK but that was only £3 to enter:

These fake exhibitions showing copies of his wall paintings and installations are charging around CHF 40 a ticket and are not approved by him.

I’m surprised that major cities in many countries allow these exhibitions to go ahead breaking international copyright laws. They are the Temu of the art world and making money illegally out of someone else’s talent and hard work.

Don’t know why people think it’s okay to plaster stuff on other people’s property and call it art. Why do I think if he did it properly with paint and canvas no one would be the least bit interested.

Whilst that may be what made him famous, it’s only a small aspect of what he produces.

Notably, he doesn’t spray on stone work or other buildings with high historical significance.

I don’t think it’s going to be detrimental to the value of these buildings in Ukraine, do you:

So, it’s been 11 hours that I started this thread and I just did it because I thought it might interest somebody. It’s not that I’ve ever seen a banksy on a wall myself.
My first thought on your reply was “oh come on, it’s just a pointer to an exhibition”.
Tonight I did some research and by now I fully agree with you, in fact I don’t think anybody should go to one of these exhibitions (I never said somebody should in my first post, I just posted the info about it :smirk:)

Exhibiting originals was “too expensive” was said in an interview (collecting from private owners, insurance …) when that would have been the legal way to do this exhibition plus free entry of course (instead of about Fr. 30.00 which is not even cheap) and banksy’s remark “copyright is for losers” was used in that interview. Banksy has to say this abut that.

So yeah, thanks for your input. There is nothing one can do these days easily anymore without checking and double-checking, is there.
