Bars / Pubs in Thalwil?

Hi All,

Are there any pubs or bars in Thalwil? We've noticed there seem to be a lot of nice apartments here but can't see anywhere to go for a drink!

Thanks,

Dan

Go down to the lakefront. Portofino or Alexanders. There is also a renovated hotel Sedartis, right in front of the Thalwil station, it gets great reviews, also has a bar and great view of the lake. www.sedartis.ch

Or just buy a six pack and park down by the lake on the harbor.

There is a Big Ben pub there. It was filled with teenagers the one

time I was there though.

Anyone else?

Big Ben is in Horgen. Never mind. Thalwil is a bedroom community, but not a bad place considering lots of trains into Zurich, 15 minutes away.

There are two pubs in Thalwil. One on the Gotthardstr next to the DVD rental store and one under the bridge on the south exit of the station (lake side).

Both are dank and dingy stink-holes for full-time alcoholics. Should you visit one of them could you kindly give my Hauswart and smack around the head.

There are pubs (as previously mentioned) but you just don't fancy going into them as they look well dodgey (we live in Thalwil and have never ventured in).

There is a definite need for a good pub or wine bar here. Anyone fancy it as a business opportunity ?

I would volunteer to do some wine sampling in this new venture!!!

Hmm, well I did consider opening a bar there!!

But I don't think we'll move to Thalwil then (although while looking for apartments it seems there actually aren't that many bars or pubs around, outside of the cities )

Thalwil is only ten minutes by fast train to Zurich. There are a few pubs and bars there.

I lived in Thalwil for 7 years, it's one of the best places I ever lived, but not because of the pubs...because there is a train every 10 minutes to/from Zurich. The main station can be reached in 15 minutes. Thalwil is for sleeping, shopping, going to the lake. Plus it has 2 Thai, 1 Chinese, 2 Kebab, 2 Italian and 2 Swiss restaurants plus a Migros and Coop, Starbucks, 1 deli, 2 bakeries, kiosk, view of the lake and mountains, quick access to skiing and woods, and low tax. And for lack of a pub you say no? Wrong priorities.

Different priorities.
