Basel airport curfew - what happens to delayed flights?

Just made my 3rd trip to the airport this morning. Flight cancelled and I have the pleasure of waking up early tomorrow to take my parents on the replacement flight. Bag drop closes at 6.20. Urgh.

why was it cancelled? According to the internet the sun shines all night in Manchester

I guess with the sun they’re trying to say clear sky.

Arrived early only to be told the flight is now at 8am and not 7am meaning we could have had an extra hour in bed even assuming the plane is on time!

Sounds like you’ve been through the wringer, but glad they finally made it off this morning

It’s been mentioned before on the forum but if the Switzerland-London direct train service is realised then for winter travel, that may be a better, more reliable option than flying.

It’s only an 11 minute walk, or a couple of minutes taxi from St. Pancras to Euston and from there you can get a direct train to Manchester so easily doable for more elderly passengers.

So, assuming a Zurich-London train stops en-route in Basel, it’s basically one change for the whole journey.
