Just wondering can anybody recommend a gym that teaches classes through english and also has childcare facilities - not asking for much am I! Just arrived two weeks ago and help/advice would be much appreciated

Novartis gym has classes in English, but you'd need to work there. I know that some instructors here http://www.fitorama.ch/fitorama-fitness-center.html also teach in English.
What kind of classes are you looking for? With many, you only need limited vocabulary to understand the instructions. For example LesMills classes are the same all over and instructors often use the English terms anyway and Zumba classes should ideally be taught without any verbal cues, so in most cases you should be able to manage even if you don't speak the language. I'd rather find a nice gym that's conveniently located, most people wouldn't drag themselves across town.
