BBQ in Basel

I am looking for a nice place somewhere in Basel or 1-1.5 h drive from Basel in order to make a barbeque. I will have some visitors soon that they love doing BBQ but i do not really know any places. As i do not have my own grill it will be good if the place or park has some places to put fire and grill some nice burgers!

Cheers

Gruen 80 is a nice BBQ park in Basel. To get there you need to take tram no. 10 and get off at the stop called Neuewelt/Gruen 80. It has areas designated for bbq's with grill stands so no need to carry a bbq set all the way down there

Here's the link for the tram details:

Around Basel on the tram/bus netz that I have been too for BBQs:

Dornach Castle is very good and is has a great view over the valley - and a nice walk to get to it.

Lange Erlen has many places, but not all have pre-built grills.

There are also ok spots in Birsfelden at the end of the No. 3 on the way to Waldhaus.

Riehen has a handful also, but cannot remember where they are at the moment. (send me a PM for more info...)

There are some very family friendly ones near the swimming pool in Reinach, but can get very busy if very sunny and warm (most places get busy in summer......)

Best to get on a bike and cycle into the country a bit off the main roads and see what you find. Thats how we found most of the spots we go to.

I know there are many many more, but just suggesting the ones I have "cooked" at

Sorry for bringing back an old thread. Is this information still good? Is it possible to barbecue at Gruen 80 without having to carry a set?

Thanks!

Yep this info is still current and I hear some other EF members had a good time grilling there this weekend

Another nice place that we've been to and seen people making a grill fire with collected wood, is this:

You can take the cablecar to the top, but there is also a way to get there with the car. It has a beautiful view from the top.

mimi1981 thanks for the reply. Can I disturb you with a PM to ask you a couple questions about the place? I do not think it can be of interest to the others too...

sankbhat the words "collected wood" there have a literal meaning, I assume . Thanks for the suggestion. I did not know it but it's certainly a place to visit.

Thanks

Of course you can One thing to note is that you do have to take your own charcoal to all of the public grill places as far as I am aware

There is a handy garage one stop before Grün80 where you can stock up on some bits so there is no need to carry it too far!

Yes, it does!

Yeah I imagined that . I just hope you do not have to go hunting to have something to eat
