Beat extortionate car hire prices?

I'm surprised no one has created a car rental business similar to those used for renting private motorhomes and camper vans. I've just priced a 12 day car hire from Basel Airport and it's CHF125 per day (cheapest). I looked at alternatives and can rent a camper van for CHF95 per day. Many people have a second car or car not used much (holidays, work away etc). A thinking it might be a bit like Air BnB but for motor vehicles.... Any one come across such a thing?

Insurance becomes a major headache, damages to the car....., theft....the list is quite long why people don't do this

Well quick check on https://www.airportrentals.com/ for 01 Nov - 12 Nov i get Chf 400.-- (Chf 36/day) for a VW Polo…with Alamo.

Would you rent your own car for less than 125 CHF/day? Insurance included.

PS. some of the offered camper vans are not generating a profit at all. They're just avoiding losing even more.

Gomore.ch seems to offer this service. Does anyone have any experience renting with them?

Our Insurance, La Mobilière, covers for this kind of thing. I have rented my car to visiting friends. But don’t know of any company that does this.

Sharoo doesn't seem to exist anymore. It redirects to ubeeqo.ch, which seems to be a different kind of service.

Rental car companies price like airlines. A single day rental is going to have a much higher daily rate than for a week.

Less price sensitive business travellers go for the single or two day and price-conscience go for the week, or two.

Mind you this summer in Canada a 10 day rental cost me f1800. One way rentals were simply not available.
