My son is around 2.5 yrs and loves slides/swings, just like all the kids.
When we visited to one of our friends some weeks back, we saw they have a double decked bed for their 2 girls and it has a slide which gets the girl sleeping on upper deck down via d slide. Of course, this bed has a ladder as well.
We were looking in the internet but couldn't find any good enough, which can be a good strong bed for a kid who is, on a average active and would like to use it until he was 5-6 yrs old. I was wondering if you guys have any information on where can I try to buy something like this.
IKEA has no options, but we saw something in Germany called All Natura, but options didnt look great.
I am not sure if we can use this for a long time, he might just grow out of it as well. Then we might just take the slide out, and have it as a double decked bed for something.
My brothers had 'bunk beds' (army surplus I suppose, metal tubing anno 1948)
My sister and I bought ourselves bunk beds when I was in my twenties. (I was only 'at home' one night a week so my bed was just taking up floor space for the rest of the time).
Our youngsters had bunk beds from the age of about 5 / 3.
So I'm a great fan of the extra floor area they leave. A single high bed leaves room underneath which is very useful too.
However:
With bunk beds, I'd be wary of using the top bed for a very young child, as I'd be concerned about them climbing out half-asleep and falling. The single high bed shown is lower but I'd still think twice for a 2 1/2 year old.
If Mum is tall, high beds are fine. If not, they can be a problem to make (I'm 172 but I often pulled the mattress down to put a fresh fitted sheet on) and if the child is ill it can cause difficulties too.
Think it through and consider what you'll do if the child is ill (or breaks his leg skiing or something) Have you another sleeping solution for emergencies?
Great fun though. We still have ours and I occasionally sleep in it too.
