Best fight scenes

The Wild Bunch

Final shootout, soooooo much slow motion goodness and gattling gun action.

The beginning with the walk to free Angel is a classic of cinema, and the action afterwards is some of the most picturesque yet nastiest I've watched.

Hard Boiled

Too many scenes to pick, so I've gone for the first and the tea house shoot out. All the John Woo hallmarks are there, 2 gun slow motion flying through the air, stylised gun battles in slow motion, and a little comedy quirk as he ends up covered in flour.

Deadwood

Dan v's The Captain, complete with oil lubrication and eye popping fun, great television series and this was a great fight from it, really nasty. Its my new benchmark for is it a good fight.

Princess Bride

Its funny but its also very good and I love the bit where they both find out they are fighting left handed on purpose.

Wanted to put Yojimbo or The Seven Samurai in there but couldn't find the clips.

No posting undefeatable its old, and its not really very good..funny but not good.

Any fight scene from the first Matrix film. Often copied but still the best.

Anything from "Hero" or "KungFu Hustle".

The best fight scene.....of my favorite movie that is.

Big city scumsuckers!

Bridget Jones....not for the technique obviously

Um, Family Guy

The video does not do it justice, but here is a clip from Alpha Dog:

Godzilla and Rodan VS. Ghidorah:

I vote for the opening scene of Zatoïchi , the blind samurai. Can't wait to watch the other fights.

You sir have missed the point of this thread.....no blood, no death..no no no..nothing.

On the Samurai front, I vote for Lone Wolf & Cub in Shogun Assassin. This was banned in the 'states for being too bloody. Imagine that...

BTW, that's not the original soundtrack.

Oops. Sorry! Mind you, those are only actors... hehe.

There was a good one in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers..

Prove it...can only think of the camp dance fighting...unless this is the porn version in which case I do believe there was some pork sword swinging going on.

Can't remember as it's about twenty years since I've seen it, but it was on a building site if I recall...

"

Milly teaches the brothers manners and introduces them to the town girls, but a fight with the local men inspires the brothers to stop wooing and start kidnapping .

But after a disastrous barn raising during which the brothers snare the attention of the town girls only to be taunted into fighting with the town men, Adam suggests his brothers forget gentle methods of love and follow the actions of the Roman with the Sabine ("Sobbin'") women. The kidnapping of their six sweethearts spurs Milly to throw the men out of the house, but enforced proximity caused by winter and the brothers' good intentions just might help love bloom again."

Now there's some advice for you.

Matrix 2 stairwell scene is one of my all time faves. So well made it still has the power to enthrall me even when im completely feeling down. Watch closely and you will see Neo fighting using his body asymetrically... equivalent to patting your head and making circles on your tummy, but with kung fu... ace!

Crouching tiger hidden dragon at the time just blew me away. I went to see that one five times at the cinema if i recall.

Both styles have been copied a lot since then, so it somewhat dilutes the effect, but i still watch the matrix scenes sometimes.

Obviously, there are also a couple of classic fight scenes which I love but which do not involve much fighting:

First there is bruce lee in enter the dragon... the art of fighting without fighting... where he cleverly persuades his opponent to enter a boat and then makes him float off.

Second is the famous indiana jones scene where he shoots the guy with the big sword instead of actually fighting him.... of course, the fight with the big bald guy under the flying wing is a great one too.

@ Natasha

Totally agree on the chicken fight(s)

Besides that:

- End fight from "Drunken Master II", a classic

- Every single fight scene from Ong Bak

- the corridor fight in Old Boy

- final sword duel from Rob Roy

- the Dance-off in Zoolander

- the Ping Pong match between Christopher Walken and Dan Fogler in "Balls of Fury"

The fight scenes in The Fast Show are really good.

This is only a short extract.

South family get togethers!! Christmas etc.

How about "The Replacement Killers" ?

I especially like the shootout at Meg Coburn's flat.

I just looked it up on The IMDB, seems it's not so well liked... *shrug*.
