Unfortunatly the cheese shop in the Kloster is closed, has been for a while. But great shop in Engelbergs 'high street'.

Really? Looks still active: https://chaes-im-kloster.ch/
It seems it was closed for renovation, but according to this article, reopened in December:

Engelberg is not exactly a metropolis, so it won’t be a long walk to the high street should the curds be away.

That’s the web page I looked at to see if it was now open. I was there in summer, and wanted to get some local cheeses, that’s when I saw it was closed.
Still, I hope it’s now open.
'av a nice evening y’all

We did buy their homemade fondue and some heuschnapps.
Harder, was sourcing some bread!
They are opening up a store in Metalli in Zug in the spring which will hopefully put a bit of pressure on Coop and Migros.
Parmesan is an American invention to copy badly the Parmigiano Reggiano.
I hope you bought Parmigiano Reggiano aged min 2 years 🤞🏻😉
It even has DOP status like Parmigiano Reggiano.
But in the US, anything goes. I had some "Parmesan" in the US once - it had the taste and texture which was definitely not Parmigiano Reggiano!
It couldn’t be more Italian than if it was fashionably dressed, rides a Vespa at crazy speeds and is connected to the Mafia.
Parmesan is simply the English and Frech name for "Parmigiano Reggiano".
"Both Parmigiano Reggiano and Parmesan are protected designations of origin (PDO) for cheeses produced in these provinces under Italian and European law."

Why someone can live in Europe for years gets the EU confused with the whole of Europe is beyond me. There are twenty-three European countries not in the EU.
