Best pizzerias greater Zurich area

Dieci al Lago in Rapperswil is my absolute favourite pizzeria in the Zurich lake area, their pizzas being certainly my top3. Tiramisu is great as well. I have been in other Dieci restaurants, but in my opinion they don't even come close to Dieci al Lago - top service, top ambiance, good price ...

Which is your favourite Italian - outside the city of Zurich?

Funny you should say that, my absolute famous is about 10 meters away, San Marco. I've been to both places and San Marco for me is not only a cut above, but is the best Italian restaurant I know of in Switzerland.

The Dieci at the Zoo in Fluntern also makes very very good pizzas!

San Marco in Rappers is my absolute favourite too! Amazing ice-creams but never enough room after their incredibly delicious and super large pizzas. Separate ice cream visit recommended!

RESTAURANT "Cucina" is for me the best pizza !!!!

I agree. Just off Langstrasse, not far from Limmatplatz. (although confused why you resurrected this thread from nearly 4 years ago)

La Cucina.

Miracle in Seefeld for me, though I love San Marco's Lasagne - best I've ever had!

You'd be surprised, but one of the best Pizza I had and regularly have is from the Migros Takeaway at Zurich HB. They sell it by the slice and tastes better than many restaurant Pizza.

The Pippone in Zürich-Affoltern is really superb

Highly recommendable also is the GRAPPOLO in Widmerstrasse 64 in 8038 Zürich

This spot was very nice but I have not been for awhile

On Badnerstrasse

Dominos; even after ten years here, I still opine that Europeans don't know anything about pizza.

That said, I agree with the post above about Dieci; for that style, it's a pretty good pizza!

Dominos is awesome if you like fatty, doughy crap that is nothing like a good pizza!

Azzurro on Hohlstrasse is my absolute fav. Worth the trek, but make sure you book. Its a well known secret

But PIZZA ..... IS European

whenever my brother loved the small nice pizze in the Italy of the 1960ies and not the giant things served now ......

while I loved the Naci di Coco and those very small fried fish which had the taste of pommes-chips

What was that sound? It was something like "whoosh!"

Thanks all for the recommendations - look forward to trying some great pizza

I actually know people (Americans and some Asians) who actually do think European, thin-base pizzas are weird and "just not right".

Don Leon has a great pizza! One of the restaurants is located at waffenplatzstrasse, in Enge.

I agree. I hate the thin crispy pizza bases (one step up from flammkuchen).

A thin and well-cooked pizza base is not "crispy", maybe that's where you're going wrong.
