Actually, these two indoor might be nearer you http://www.badi-info.ch/blaesi.html http://www.badi-info.ch/kaeferberg.html but the full list is http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/content/...schwimmen.html
For outdoor, Letten is your nearest.
Can someone recommend a pool for beginners learning to swim?
i.e.
- not super crowded
- at least some shallow part not more than shoulder deep
- water temp not freezing
Indoor and outdoor options would be helpful.
The most ideal place I can think of would be the private pool at the top of the swissotel oerlikon but it costs 20- for each entrance.
Has anyone tried hallenbad käferberg for this purpose?
Soon, some of the indoor pools will be closing for the annual clean-up which takes place when, in theory, the lake is warm enough for swimming and the air warm enough for you to want to take a dip.
Last time I was in Käferberg it was mind-bogglingly warm.
I think if you want really helpful help, we need to know a bit more about what you have in mind.
She's a qualified, and recommended swimming teacher.
A great person as well, so for an adult to learn to swim, she would be perfect to provide the exact environment your friend needs.
She also has this thread which I'm sure she probably monitors, but don't be afraid to send her a PM as well.
Swimming is an incredibly important skill to master, so I fully support your friends need to learn to swim.
There is no shame in learning, at any age.
It will save your life.
As someone has already said, http://www.badi-info.ch/zueri-badis.html is the best bet for information. Put it into google translate if you or your friend can't understand German yet.
(But seriously, your best bet is Debs.)
Isn't it more important your friend learns "how to swim" first?
Contact i-b-Deborah, and express your concerns. I'm sure she'll know of a place that might be suitable and possibly arrange a one-on-one lesson to suit.
Not much point finding a nice quiet place to drown.
This is where someone like i-b-D comes in. She probably knows the most suitable pools and maybe the most suitable times. As she will have 'water-time' for her groups you won't be blocking her lane when you work with your 'pupil' - but anyone like me, who has found a pool, where, at a specific time there's a nice lane to swim their couple of kilometres is no way going to spill the beans and allow others to queer their pitch by blocking one end.
I've taught enough scared beginners in public pools at public sessions and it just isn't easy. Good luck.
