I'd like to take some of my CHF earnings and convert to USD for use in the states and other countries.
I'm finding that the forex rates offered by credit suisse comes with a pretty hefty surcharge, plus I get hit with wire fees on both sides.
If I want to avoid the wire fees and take out USD cash, it's also bad as the cash rates offered by the banks have an even larger surcharge.
Are there any tricks to accomplishing this without taking a 5% hit?
By comparison, USD to CHF is trivial. I take money out of the ATM in CH and my American bank gives me the market FX rate, plus reimburses for any ATM fees charged by the Swiss ATM so there's literally zero cost to go from USD to CHF.
Is there a similar strategy for CHF to USD while I am in the states?
