Good timing then! My French is OK after 5 years for anglophone standards but it'd be nice not to require a certificate
Enohzee was asking about a change from a Permit B to a Permit C, which is a bit different to just renewing a Permit C, hence me asking.
I would be very careful with that form. That form is for requesting a renewal of your B permit and given how things are now you may just get what you asked for (another B). In the past a C would have been sent instead. So write in the observations/comments part of the form that you would like to get a C permit as you would be resident in Switzerland for 5 years by the day after your B permit expires. You will continue to be exempt of language requirements if your country has a bilateral agreement with us that grants reciprocity. If you are unemployed by the time the renewal control is due your situation will be studied in more detail before any renewal or extension is granted.
Thankyou for this advice
thank you for your replies. It is nice to get to know experiences from people in this Forum.
I am British and I have similar issue with c permit application.
Jan 2013 - Jan 2017 : Postdoc(worked more than 15 hours per week) B permit (Ausbildung mit Erwebstätigkeit)
Jan 2017 - June 2017: L permit (preparation for marriage)
June 2017 - Now: B permit (familliennachzug)
Sept 2018 - Now: Permanent position in Credit Suisse
Question:
-Am I eligible to apply for C permit since I stay in CH for more than 5 years continuously?
-Is my Postdoc period counted in my 5 years continuous stay?
If the 5 years have been uninterrupted you should be alright. Check with your cantonal authority to make sure.
