I saw a very good bicycle lying under water on the bottom of the Werd canal just near to the Electric power station at Werd Insel. Its about 2 metre deep. Should I notify someone.
that's pretty usual.
The Rhone in Geneva is full of them as well and bikes are usually hooked high so that they dont get destroyed (if they can cut the lock, bike finishes in the Rhone or sold, if they can't cut the lock, bike gets destroyed)
The Wasserschutzpolizei is the place to report such a bicycle in Zurich. Thanks for caring. As far as I've heard, they collect reports and then, from time to time, go out with a boat or divers and pick up whatever they can find. If you think the bicycle is very new, then that's worth mentioning, in case it can be rescued before it rusts too much.
Well I reported it 2 days ago to the local police. He was not particularly interested but made a note of it. And at the end he asked me in broken English whether I would be watching the basket ball today. I did not have a clue what he was talking about. Maybe he meant tennis!
Now the Werd canal is flooded so I cant see whether the bike is still there or not.
